I also think as a fanbase a lot of us see a club that might go out of business and are willing to give them some help, even if it is even only £30. I won't ever want a club to go to the wall no matter how much I dislike them, their supporters are us by another name, some are gits but the majority just have the misfortune to love a football club.8

There’s only two clubs I’d happily see go out of business completely. Milton Keynes and Palace.cfgs said:I also think as a fanbase a lot of us see a club that might go out of business and are willing to give them some help, even if it is even only £30. Yes I was there in 99 when they celebrated our relegation, maybe I am a bigger person than they are.cafc_se7 said:

You have to admit it would be pretty funny to sing it back to them, maybe I’m not so big 🤣cfgs said:

Tried to buy a ticket for this, but unable to due to the coach apparently being sold out a week before the game.
I know it's been discussed on here to death, but the way we stop selling coaches over a week before a game is just ridiculous.4 -
They've stopped selling because they have run out of spaces though?bolloxbolder said:Tried to buy a ticket for this, but unable to due to the coach apparently being sold out a week before the game.

But if another 50 people wanted to go they could fill up another coach. Or is it not that simple?Belv said:

You should send an email enquiring about the coach, chances are other people will do the same and they can gauge the demand to decide whether its viable to put another coach on. Alternatively, they will possibly get back to you if someone drops out and a spot becomes available. Speaking from previous experience.bolloxbolder said:Tried to buy a ticket for this, but unable to due to the coach apparently being sold out a week before the game.

Probably not with just over a week before the game, depends on the coach company's availability and it's unlikely that as many as 50 people have enquired in the last week. Happy to be told I'm wrong but I doubt the club just "stop selling coaches."golfaddick said:

You’d be wrong. They do.Belv said:

The club’s approach to away travel is to run full coaches as they think that maximises profit. In my experience they are wrong, as they choke off demand and if you let it run you will make money through higher volumes.
Of course you wouldn’t start a new coach the day before an away game or run one with with ten people but they are operating with big margins and can afford to take some risk.
In fact it’s all pretty predictable, including the number of bookings that come in later on depending on the trip.We run the same number of coaches as Ramsgate in the seventh tier. They could easily be running four or five. It’s no problem to me because I go by train, but it’s the wrong mentality. It doesn’t serve the fans and it won’t maximise the profit they take either.14 -

For £23 return you could get the National Express from London Victoria at 08.30 and the return at 19.00.
Appreciate not as convenient as a Valley Express which will likely have a stop closer to your home.3 -

It’s absolutely that simple and with the mark-up they are putting on you wouldn’t need anywhere near 50, but they are not really interested (the organisation, not individuals).golfaddick said:

In that case then, it does make very little sense.0 -
Restricting sales based on coach seat availability reminds me of the policy to take home tickets off sale on the tickets portal at 1pm for a 3pm kick off, in order to hit people ('walk-up sales') with the Katie tax. Self-defeating attitudes to choke off our support undertaken by our own club.
Shouldn't both these issues- home and away sales- be taken up by the various fan advisor/ engagement groups?5 -
I think the problem with such a discussion is that the club itself doesn’t have a robust understanding of away travel and doesn’t see a benefit in putting more time and effort into it, given the small return in ticket revenue. It’s easier to run a minimal service and sell it out than manage a more complicated one. The service has been run at a low level for so long that nobody there knows any different.swords_alive said:Restricting sales based on coach seat availability reminds me of the policy to take home tickets off sale on the tickets portal at 1pm for a 3pm kick off, in order to hit people ('walk-up sales') with the Katie tax. Ramsgate are running seven coaches to Aveley in midweek for an Isthmian League cup final @ £15 a head. Hard to make useful comparisons, but they work really hard to get people to attend.6

I’ve said it many times, but I was in The JS stand that day and their fans were class at the end of the game. Big numbers came over and applauded us while we were singing, ‘We’ll be back’.cfgs said:
