I can’t quite make my mind up on the big names being left out approach.

On one hand - I do admire the ability to throw ego out the room.

But I can’t quite get fully comfortable with the knowledge that we potentially go into a World Cup (after coming so close the last few big tournaments) with Bellingham and Palmer on the bench. And TAA not even in the squad.

Would France drop Mbappe or Spain boot Yamal when you are playing the very best? I’m not sure

Watching England games is a waste of time and a bore until the summer tournaments start - until they sort the whole thing out I don’t know why anybody would bother - games are foregone conclusions or experimental bores like last night - so I gather from today’s comments !!!

FWIW. I thought it wasn't a penalty. Two players raised their boots to an identical height to kick the ball and the ref gave the decision to the guy who made most noise going down. I thought Uruguay were a good choice as we gear up for the finals, but changing so many players for fringe options on a try out won't teach too much as far as I can see. Teuchel is the manager though, so maybe he'll have fresh insight after that. The foul on Foden was a straight red. It was a friendly and we needed a work out against eleven players, but that was a genuinely bad challenge.
And the ref was appalling. Useless and shouldn't be anywhere near this level of football.

Literally went last night and will be going Tuesday purely to gain 4 caps, left on 70 mins and bumped into a few Charlton fans at the kings head in London Bridge. Was indoors by 11.30

What a farcial evenings entertainment.Had I paid to watch that I would have been fuming,80000plus people paid to watch an England team but saw none of the regulars who usually start, just a load of fringe players who may or may not make the squad.
Now on to the officialdom, words actually fail me on the level of incompetence last night.
1)The guy who done Foden just had to go,that was a terrible lunge, did he even get booked.
2)2 Yellow cards ,not sent off,a FIFA level official ,dear oh dear.
3)Maguire dragged to the ground,so blatant ,VAR not really needed, nope, sod all,no review, anywhere else a pull back is a booking.
4)50-50 ball,in our box,White a fraction late, player goes down as if been shot,VAR all over it,ref a quick glance, cant wait to give penalty.
If this standard of officialdom is not improved at the world cup,it is going to be a farce.
When do you suggest he should try out players he is not sure about, other than in a friendly ?
Well obviously in friendlies ,but there was not one player in the squad who was a regular and nailed on starter.Surely Tuchel must know the majority of his squad by now,and how can you judge a player over 20 minutes.I personally think at this late stage,he should be working towards his starting 11 and not putting out 20 players ,many who have no chance of going to the world cup. Also could the FA possibly have told the paying public that Kane,Saka,Rice etc..would probably not be playing, but they wouldnt do that because ticket sales would plummet.

I have to ask: what is the difference between going and going literally? Is it that you actually played because you say you got a cap. You left early so I would guess that you are Phil Foden but you’ve got way more than 3 caps, haven’t you? Also, do you already know that you are playing on Tuesday?

The word “literally” appears to have completely lost its previous meaning and is now used as a form of emphasis.

These games are a waste of time and a piss take to fans that buy tickets. The players aren’t arsed and the manager learns nothing from them. International breaks should be for teams still trying to qualify the teams that have should just take a break imo

The queue to leave at half time was larger than the queue to get a beer. Easily about 200+ in a queue to get outside the emergency exit gate.

With respect are any of the players you mentioned for England in the same league as Mbappe or Yamal? With the exception of Bellingham (and thats debateable) I would say neither are.

These should be the most important pre tournament matches before the world cup as its the most likely to stake a claim for a call up for world cup, in reality only Uruguay looked up for it.

Like ’really’ then. But if you say ’I really went last night’ it’s as though you think the other person doesn’t believe you. Like I would say ’I really don’t understand what ’literally went’ means unless it means that ’I went’ by watching on TV and those at the stadium ’really’ or in newspeak ’literally went’.
Confused? I am. I’m even more confused by the caps for fans bit.

Caps are the equivalent of loyalty points, your ticket has to be scanned for you to get the caps

However I wasn’t confused about ’literally ’. In that case I really was being pedantic, and I don’t care because using it like that is just dumb, annoying and sometimes confusing. It’s Easter soon and I propose bringing bringing back crucification for people who mis-use the word all the time. Do I mean that literally or figuratively? That’s for you to choose.

I've no problem with Tuchel trying out 'maybes' for the final squad in a friendly, as obviously there is no other chance for them to play. But it does seem a bit pointless playing them in a total mish-mash of a team with no regulars at all.

Play 3-4 maybes but keep the rest of the team as close to your main XI as possible, as you're surely not going to learn much if the whole XI is different.

All of the other 'big' nations have played friendlies in the past couple of days, Argentina, Brazil, France, Spain, Germany, Holland and all have played their main players.

Now we hear that Rice and Saka who were both 'rested' for the Uruguay game have been released from the squad and won't play Japan. What do we think the chances are that they both play in Arsenal's next match?

Your post that I was quoting, literally, said “caps for fans”.
