    Yeah as I said earlier there's no way he can stay. He's almost certain to face a ban, and rightly so.

    He's a promising young manager, I suspect he'll pop up somewhere on the continent. But as I've said before as well, it's such a huge risk for such a finite reward.

    I don't think you can put that much down to watching the oppositions' training sessions. Especially if it only happened three times (IF it only happened three times). I believe Southampton had the best record in the league from the time he took over. I highly, highly doubt that's all down to spying on the opposition. Southampton have good footballers who were playing really poorly until he took over, and played really well after. I just can't imagine that's down to cheating. I think he got a good side playing very well, and I suspect the benefits from watching opposition training sessions were marginal.

    It's why I keep saying it's such a finite reward for such a major risk.

    I know, I was being flippant although it seems to be part of his psyche so how genuine is he?

    I think the punishment should be relegation. If as seems likely they cheated through the whole season how can their effect on the relegated teams be assessed? We all know sometimes a loss leads to a loss of confidence and a whole run of bad results. So it’s possible that their actions led to another team being relegated.

    I feel sorry for the Southampton fans, but the appeal was never going to suceed once they had belatedly admitted guilt on not only this but other occasions.

    The FA can now start there processes to get people banned, and the club isn’t immune from further sanctions

    Of course, one of the things he did was to bring Bree back into the fold after he was cast aside by Still. In 24 appearances for Southampton, Bree was only on the losing side once - against Man City in the Cup. 

    A real shame Eckert resorted to such dubious tactics given the penalties for doing so will far outweigh the benefits for him personally and Southampton. There's now even talk of Southampton players looking to see if they have a legal claim against the club for potential loss of earnings. Good luck next season with a four-point deduction, a new manager and a restless camp.

    EFL would have saved themselves a major headache if Middlesbrough had won that playoff semi final, you can’t help but feel they’ve done the fairest thing here though, if it comes out that Southampton spied on more teams (which you assume surely they would have done) they should get more points deducted surely?

    Wonder how this affects them next season, surely all the main sponsors aren’t gonna wanna touch them right now & are their best players gonna want to stay?

    Parachute payment gets reduced. Manager goes. Players disaffected with the club. Possibly more sanctions incoming. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see 3 or 4 good players go out the door.

    I liked the bit where they said they would respond to the situation with humility, whilst also saying the sanction was wrong and not apologising.

    There is talk that some of their players will sue the club due to loss of earnings. This was all Southampton's doing. I still don't believe those running the club get that.

    I just cannot see how any of their players can successfully sue the club for potential loss of earnings when they still had a game to play and even then, only if their current contract stipulated a promotion bonus.
    Would love to see it though and I suppose their agents might use it as leverage to get them out sooner?
