Spence and Madueke should not be starting games for England at the World Cup, neither are good enough. Happy to see Guehi back though

I’d agree they aren’t the best individual players.

But for years England played World Class players together that just didn’t work. Southgate deployed a very defensive system and put that ahead of
individuals to an extent - we made 2 finals.

Tuchel is playing a more attacking system, but it’s a very tactical approach he’s taking.

I don’t think Madueke or Spence are even in the top 3 English players in their respective positions, but they do help us play the football we want to play.

I do think that Saka is also straight in as soon as he’s fit.

The more I see that 2nd Croatian goal the better it gets.

How Perisic had the intelligence to make that header I’ll never know.

I sort of agree tbh but it's hard to deny that England having wide players bomb forward is fun.

So much better than it was under Fraudgate

Joe Harts neck is longer than Rooney’s torso.

Great piece of analysis from Micah Richards on the bbc about why England are passing out from the back and the moves they are trying to create. It creates space. Its just about ironing out a few details and it is the key to our attacking moves and using the pace out wide.

Jordan Ayew leading the line,  weeks after being relegated with Leicester.

How close is this stadium to the sea? There's a lighthouse at one end of the ground..

Perisic is a class act as a footballer. Baturina will become a superstar in the not too distant future as well. Always had an eye on the Croatian side who have produced some real mavericks in among pedigree geneational players like Suker, Boban, Prosinicki, Modric, Srna

Gvardiol is one of the smoothest defenders in the game as well

They are also a heartbeat away from goong very off-menu and biting someone or kicking them in the face. Normally when they play Italy or Serbia

Oddly enough this England kit tonight is a mash up, navy shorts from the away with the home shirt and socks.

I wish Madueke would just run at defenders and take a chance. If he loses it he loses it but he's trying to keep his place ahead of Saka and he's not going to do that by chickening out every time he he has a chance to take on his full back and passing back to Reece James. Go for it

Ghana playing a low block. Ayew almost alone up top and having to press - he will run out of puff in the first half if he has to keep this up. Semenyo isnt going to be able to play with freedom if hes held to this system. Like tying his legs together. Lets see if we can break it down.

I think its part of a plan to try and draw them out to press us then creating space for him to run into. But dont disagree that sometimes he could just run at them and see how it goes - would at least put doubt in their minds.

Ideally get one in the first 30 mins to force them to go for it a little bit and leave more space behind.

Shearer of all people saying about elbows to the head. Bloke made a career of it. Could never like him because of his antics.

Go on Terry, we'll forgive all your previous indiscretions...

    (probably.)
