    Have you thought about using JustPark ?  Maybe someone close to the ground may be able to rent out their drive on a matchday. I was thinking about this & also thinking going down on a non-matchday when it’s not busy and knocking on a few doors and asking.

    are left with piss takers who want to charge you £50 + to park in there run down drive.  
    It’s the biggest reason why I don’t get to many games now and add the ridiculous ticket prices , that’s the final nail in the coffin . 

    As much as I love The Valley , we desperately need an out of town stadium because this club is going to die without the real fans turning up.

    Blows my mind that people can moan about the location of The Valley. Some of you clearly do not travel to many other grounds.

    Two mainline stations within a 15-20 minute walk, tube within a 40 minute walk, loads of buses on the main road and in the village, and right next to one of the most historical parts of the greatest city in the world. But yeah, parking is a bit of a pain so let's fuck that off and move to Bluewater. Insane.

    Fucking hell, so where then if it isn't on the A2, is your location for this out of town ground, that takes the club away from it's history, it make your life easier.

    Bedfordshire would be the obvious choice to move to but would worry about stepping on the toes of traditional football clubs in the area like the MKDons, who would be aggrieved by a London based side upping sticks and setting up shop on their manor.

    There’s free street parking around Plumstead Common. Then bus it to the ground. Where I live there are usually at least 10 spaces within 5 minutes walk.

    That’s very subjective and I think the complete opposite. 
    Mark my world . The supporter base is getting older not younger and parking , ticket prices and match day experience, food , drinks etc.. ARE putting people off going and that’s without mentioning the dreadful style of football we have to endure . 
    Absolute nonsense.  As soon we have a decent cup game or London Derby loads of extra fans appear , regardless of cost. Also. everyone is getting older. lol

    I do think a park and ride option somewhere sensible plus additional matchday trains would solve a lot of this. if the club get the pricing right!

    Beds is fundamentally right about the supporter base who attend games. It's the same reason pubs and clubs are no longer full of young people and nightclubs have closed everywhere.... affordability.

    If you don't capture those younger generations as match attending supporters, then you've lost them forever. Of course there will always be thousands of Charlton fans - but many will mainly support by association and only attend the odd game here and there.

    The 3pm blackout will soon be gone and that will be another issue to contend with.

    Few years back pay to park was available at a school along Woolwich Road if memory serves. Windrush School ? Is that still in operation ?

Last season I was told there was a reduction in parking spaces so I could not have one. I was finally offered a season parking pass at Makro's for £350 which was just about in my walking distance. This season, it was August before the club said I could renew my parking pass at Makro's for £385. None of these have included cup games and last season on New Years Day Makro's was shut when we turned up to park but were early enough that we were allowed in the Valley car park.
    Makro's is much easier to get away from after the game but as I get older and my mobility gets more restrictive I wonder if, after 61 seasons, I am not the type of fan Charlton wants to encourage.

    Thanks, that's useful and sounds like its going to be virtually impossible to get anything at the Valley, as i thought - we used to park up the top near the lido but have now moved to parking near the anchor and hope pub (not that much further than makro's) as its getting a struggle for my dad walking up and down the hill. That is working okay for now but i'm sure some sort of restrictions will be imposed at some point so be nice to know what it would take to get into the valley car park. Probably a couple of relegations and a dismantling of the fanzone in reality but be nice to hear back from the club - i won't hold my breath. 
    Have you thought about using JustPark ?  Maybe someone close to the ground may be able to rent out their drive on a matchday. I was thinking about this & also thinking going down on a non-matchday when it’s not busy and knocking on a few doors and asking. 
    I use it but you have to get it booked weeks in advance ( and it still cost me £25 )otherwise you
    are left with piss takers who want to charge you £50 + to park in there run down drive.  
    It’s the biggest reason why I don’t get to many games now and add the ridiculous ticket prices , that’s the final nail in the coffin . 

    As much as I love The Valley , we desperately need an out of town stadium because this club is going to die without the real fans turning up.

    Blows my mind that people can moan about the location of The Valley. Some of you clearly do not travel to many other grounds.

    Two mainline stations within a 15-20 minute walk, tube within a 40 minute walk, loads of buses on the main road and in the village, and right next to one of the most historical parts of the greatest city in the world. But yeah, parking is a bit of a pain so let's fuck that off and move to Bluewater. Insane.

    Where did I complain about the location of The valley or public transport? Who mentioned Bluewater?

    We don’t have that, there’s no middle man in this group. The investors are making their own decisions., and they have their own tolerances for risk and loss. What does surprise me is that someone wants out, as what are seeing is exactly what you would expect in terms of costs. So unless they were expecting significantly more revenue, we should be where the plan had us.

    Ahhh fair enough, I got slightly the wrong end of the stick and read it more as investors as a whole that got in cheap and now thinking " we need more cash/sell , this has got more expensive than we anticipated" 

    That makes a lot more sense and thank you for the clarification.

    Plenty of parking if you are able to walk ok -most of it, up the top. If you have walking issues, choices are limited. That's just the way it is. The parking restrictions have made that worse of course. However, the worst thing the club could ever do, is move from the Valley.

    That’s very subjective and I think the complete opposite. 
    Mark my world . The supporter base is getting older not younger and parking , ticket prices and match day experience, food , drinks etc.. ARE putting people off going and that’s without mentioning the dreadful style of football we have to endure . 
    It’s ticket prices. If anything they’d be more expensive at a soulless new stadium.
