Chalobah is literally taking the piss. Strolling through this with a cigar on. I know it’s only Cheltenham, but the time he seems to have on the ball is ridiculous. His first touch is fantastic as well. He ran the show at Hillsboro against us and is looking even better at the moment. Let’s hope he can stay fit.
He won’t get many plaudits, but McNamara has been class as well21 -

‘Even the cheltenham fans are applauding chalobah’
😂

Obviously take into account the opposition but that 45 mins from chalobah is the most composed performance from a midfielder we’ve had in ages

Chalobah might be the best trialist we ever sign0
-
Get Mwamba on for Chalobah and Mesik on for Bell.11

Agree with you, it’s been good. If nothing else, the naysayers can’t argue that this isn’t at minimum a great confidence booster ahead of the league stuff starting next week.995632 said:
Agreed.CafcWest said:Chalobah, Grant classy players. Koumetio having a great game and MacNamara so solid. Campbell so much better switched over to the left. Coventry holding things well IMO. Carey always looking to drive forward. All looks promising...
Just wait, "it's only Cheltenham and they're rubbish"... You can only beat what's in front of you.
Had a feeling Chalobah would show his class!1 -
Sign Dobbo and ditch Chalobah... he's pants! 😉4

Caveat were against Cheltenham but we’ve played alright so far, slow to start off with but we’ve punished mistakes which we didn’t do last year.TC much better out on the left, looked lost on the right and kept drifting, chalobah is a class above the midfielders we are used to. Danny Mac has been solid so far.1

Don't think I could handle seeing one of them go through Chalobah, save him for Derby.0

OUMA GOD THAT WAS GOOD6

Chalobah and Godden off please, lets rest their legs.3

If we got a decent RW then I'd be tempted to sell TC if he isnt going to sign a new contract. For all his speed & his great goal he just doesn't cut it on the right. . Can't cross & cant cut in & shoot with his left. Unless we play him on the left then I dont see how he fits in.AberystwythAddick said:The right hand side does not lend itself well to Campbell. The cutting in and the being in his weak foot makes him look a bit lost. I’d like to see him take his man on down the right use that pace and skill we know has and then whip some balls across at the byline2 -

They are league 2 and we are punishing them.
Why is it when ever we start to play well the opposition are shit/wank etc.
I didn't need to see Chalobah today to know he was class.
The ability to swap Grant and TC will be a bonus this season. TC was doing fine on the right and playing well but the switch improved Grants game where he had more space to run.
After a slow start when Cheltenham were passing the ball around, Chalobah had that great run and we now have extra gears. Carey, TC, Godden and Grant will benefit from his class.

Chalobah different class. That's why the so-called "haters" (ridiculous comment) have been moaning about a lack of any creative midfielders.
Was worried that McNamara would be another Ben Watson or Roger Johnson just happy to take the wage. It's obviously early doors all round but I like the look of him. Just so much urgency from us, we could go 6 games on the spin at least without witnessing anything like that last season.
Actually thought Cheltenham started quite well. Obviously they capitulated, but the main thing is getting confidence and team spirit into these players. Chalobah looks like a positive character on the pitch in more ways than one. Praying he stays fit.1 -
Chalobah and Ouma could be exactly what we’ve been crying out for4

Watching on a dodgy stream AND it's only League Two opposition but:
Lovely first half. Not just the goals, but the patterns of play.
I said it when he was on trial, I said it when he signed, and I'll say it again today: Nat Chalobah is a really good footballer. He's going to get injured, we know that. But his touch is instantaneous and his vision is excellent.
A word for his midfield partner. The first and third goals start with Coventry winning the ball back, first in the middle third, then in the attacking third. He also played a lovely ball for TC when TC hit the bar. Maybe we'll see a more mobile, adventurous side of Cov with Chalobah next to him in the double pivot.
TC, lovely goal, unlucky not to score more. I love him and hope he stays.
Grant, Carey, and Godden all look good.
Two goals from the counter and one goal from the press is, I think, indicative of how we're going to play this season.
It won't be this fluid or this easy every week, but you can only beat what's in front of you. And so far, we are.7 -

Seem to have a bit of pace in the team.
Not just reliant on TC like last season.0 -

Is Chalobah now allowed to play better because we can actually use his name and not Trialist any more? 😀2

Chalobah has been excellent but it's also been a very good day for Coventry so far. Won the loose ball for our second to set Chalobah away, won the ball high up the pitch ahead of the third, received it back and then got the assist and should have had a second assist off a brilliant through ball but TC hit the bar. Goes to show that good players elevate those around them and it's hard to look like a world-beating midfielder when you're constantly getting overrun. We really need to get another midfielder in urgently but if that player is as good as Chalobah looks then whoever plays alongside him will have a much better season I reckon5
-
I would say that Charlton's hard work and difference in quality is making them look poor as well, but even so a great half. Perfect start and I'm really enjoying this1
-
Chalobah the clear stand out. He actually plays the ball forward, good on the half turn and gets things going from deep.Slow start to the game but really turned it on - good signs.
That’s a serious finish from TC. Dug it out from underneath him really into the top corner - class goal.1 -
3 quality finishes, yes it's league two opposition but this is so much more clinical than last year.
Chalobah looks exactly like what all former team fans have said about him, and I was holding my breath when he went down.
If I'm being overly critical, Bell and Jones have been a bit loose with their passing. For Godden's goal Carey really should have rolled Campbell in for a tap in, but what a finish. And early on I was worried Campbell's confidence might drop when his early shots didn't come off so great to see him score and come close to a second.
Might even have to give the Millwall reject some credit for an assured performance at RB 😉1 -
I said Coventry would look better in a more controlled team back in League 1 and I am sure someone on here kept saying Cov would be better with a good midfielder next to him, I know it's Cheltenham, but it appears to be the case.
Good players have more time and that's what Chalobah is doing which is allowing Coventry more time to pick his passes.
Of course it won't look this easy against Derby, but respectfully, this wouldn't be happening without Chalobah. Immense upgrade in midfield.5 -
I’m looking forward to seeing Ali.It’s a real shame that apter was not fit for this, it would’ve been a good confidence builder.Get through get a lower league side next round and ease him back in3
-
The type of game we'd normally struggle with. We're well on top and look pretty composed.1
-
Just to pull against some of the positivity but feel Jones looks a bit less comfortable in a two…1
