Play TC as a winger and the difference will be apparent. 
Good performances and fair play to Cheltenham, they were schooled first half but had a right go.

Mannion our worst player. Shocking really.

Cov and Chalobah were quality aswell.

Mature performance and more minutes gained.

Good but long old day, nearly 10pm and train not even at Swindon yet, approaching somewhere I’ve never heard of (Kemble?). 

Always nice to see an away win, won’t read too much into it in the same way I didn’t think too much about the Reading defeat.

Chalobah a class act and in the flesh you could see he just has ability levels above those around him. We could do with some rare luck in keeping him fit

Thought chalobah Superb, but like all big players, they tire in the second half. or he just wasn't match fit.

Yes we know all about the level of opposition we were playing but we did dominate in having 17 shots of which 9 were on target. Last season we beat Stevenage 3-1 and then lost to Cambridge, lost 3-1 with very much reserve sides. The timing of this game is as much a benefit in getting players match fit as well as adjusted to the new shape and establishing our first choice XI, arguably more important that the result itself.

I respectively disagree, it wasn't Campbell being let down by crosses, there was no-one at the end of them. I don't know why you always have it in for him, but he was one of the best players on the pitch today and was everywhere, running his socks off. I hope he does stay and sign a new contract. 

You're right but I'll take Ronnie actually giving Campbell a 7 as a step in the right direction

Wasn’t long enough to tell really, Sichenje then played there after he came on.

So, the things that really stood out. 

1) the Charlton players all actually looked pretty fit; and

2) it is customary for the first half dozen games or so at the start of a season for the whole team to both play like they haven’t kicked a ball for the last two years; and to play like that particular game is the first time they’ve been introduced to their teammates. Today, for the most part they were hitting the ball like they had been practicing non stop since the last day of the season and interacting with teammates new and old like they were six months into the season.

That’s a huge round of applause from me to Nathan and his team of coaches for whatever they’ve been doing to achieve that. 👏👏👏

How did he do? I was reluctant to the idea of him playing there but with Ramsay injured it might be needed

Plenty of positives, some great finishes and into the next round.

Saw it. Overall impressed. Thought we looked slick at times against L2 opposition.

After conceding though, looked very shaky for a while, and I was wondering what sort of damage a team like West Ham might inflict during spells when we're not at it. It'd cost us games. 

A lot said about Mannion. Has been commanding in the box before, but wasn't yesterday.

Do we have two inconsistent keepers without a clear no 1? Competion for places usually inspires better performances, but both seem dodgy at the moment.

One thing I always remember to keep grounded after we look class against a lower league team, is that Gassan Ahadame looked unplayable against Southend a few seasons ago.

I think we’ve had bigger priorities and will go with Kaminski until that can be addressed. It’s a shame we seem to have aquired  two flakey goalkeepers because it’s such an important position. I think whoever gets the nod will both win us and lose us points. What’s really needed is unspectacular consistency.

Assuming both are fit I would stick with Kaminski. Neither are amazing, but of the two Kaminski is superior.

What I really liked yesterday was the speed of our attacks for the goals. From winning the ball back to the ball being in the net within 5-10 seconds. Rarely saw that last season

I think that’s the plan this season to make more of transitions and counter attacks, and why we’ve brought in some more pace and directness to do it

Chalobah making those surging runs was very encouraging but he won’t be doing that in so much space in The Championship. I definitely think we need another specialist anchor that allows players like Chalobah and Carey the confidence to make those runs. Coventry offers that to a degree but we need better. Coady wasn’t mobile enough but it worked well. A mobile “Coady” would make us look very cohesive I think.
