Maybe he doesn't need to to stay at the level he is but if he can improve that aspect he can become a top player. He has opportunities to do this in a game but doesn't take them. I think he has it in himself to take them or at least more of them so it is the big area he needs to focus on.Scoham said:

I think Coventry is excellent and a really important player for us. He never truly stands out in an obvious sense because he is the only player who really gets on the ball in a team that hasn’t been set up to do that for a long time. Most of the time he picks the ball up he is in a very deep lying position which means he would have to have a phenomenal range of passing to truly stand out from that position. He makes us tick and takes on a lot of responsibility in his role - he doesn’t hide, and his role in this team isn’t a particularly easy one. Listened to Steve Cotterill's post match interview and he implied that there have been million pound bids for TC and Carey. He must be ITK ?
If I was a Championship manager I would want TC in my squad to come off the bench with instructions to attack the full back whether on the right or left. For CAFC he starts if he emulates yesterday but Alli has a good skill set as a wide player so hopefully they push each other and Karlan can use his experience as a Championship play wherever he plays in the formation.
Carey scored 8 goals from midfield in a bog standard CAFC team from 25/26 that mainly played defensively and he was cream crackered in the last 3rd of the season as Knibbs was hardly ever fit to give him a rest.
Sonny wants double figures this season, so let's hope it's for CAFC before Scouts see what many CAFC folk can't see.
It's only when Carey gets sold and probably TC as well that either will really be appreciated.
If we were Carey and we had the option of Godden or TC to pass to then most would choose Matty for that 1st goal.
Pleased that Godden again scored from that move as CL critics would've given Sonny pelters as TC was unmarked on the right.

Unable to watch the game live as no sky, so just watched the highlights, and must say three great well taken goals, and Chalobah's run and assist for Carey's goal was sublime, good to see TC get on the scoresheet with a great shot, so, we just need to carry the momentum onto Saturday and Derby...0

He needs to offer more on the ball if he's going to be a regular at this level, he may have it in him but I wouldn't confidently say he'll do it - he's 26 so not a young player with loads of time on his side.
Bringing in competition in Chalobah and hopefully another player soon (Ouma), along with Mwamba pushing to get his chance can only help as it should raise the standard needed in midfield.

His crossing wasn't great and he's reluctant to shoot at times. He can undoubtedly improve and hopefully play at a higher level.Stuart_the_Red said:

He was frustrating last year being asked to play a different position. I can't see how he was yesterday playing as a winger he had a great game in my opinion.Stuart_the_Red said:

He looked better when he switched from right to left. Much better. I think the cut in is more of a threat when he does this.1

Much prefer TC to stay because I don’t think he’s reached his potential yet. The way we set up last season 100% didn’t play to his strengths and yet he still contributed week in week out covering an enormous amount of work. If he’s be sacrificed to bring in money to do other things then so be it but I’ll certainly be very sorry to see him go.10

Agree. Would hate to see him reaching it somewhere else. Agreed he would be a loss however we as a club have to sell good players in order to raise funds to build. Millwall no doubt didn’t want to sell some of their good players the last few years. The important thing is to make sure the money is invested wisely into the next good players. However I still maintain why on earth would TC go to Preston ? Well that looked a decent performance yesterday watching on Sky, albeit against a second division team, you still have to beat the team you are up against.
Some very decent passages of play especially the first two goals, whether we can pass and dribble past Championship players like that we will soon find out!. Anticipation when the other team have the ball has been a weakness at the end of last season, or so it appeared, in other words being alert and aware. Being told there is another match this week behind doors, sounds the right idea to me., to sharpen up players.
Be great if we can get a win against Derby, but there will be few if any comfortable games this year.
Let's hope our strikers can get scoring, I think there are few of us that think we will have to be at our best, and that goes to all the players , not just a few.0 -

Totally agreed, came here to say this. He put his arm around him and managed to coax a (typically reluctant) smile out of TC. Feels like if he can get TC a bit more relaxed and laughing like that, will go a long way to getting the best out of TC.Croydon said:Job done and a decent day out yesterday.
One thing I've noticed in the club's highlights is how Chalobah celebrates TC's goal with him. Looks like he could be a real leader in the middle of the park and mentor off of it.
Few other interactions as well just looked like he was very integrated in the team already which is great.
Thought Cov looked really decent too. Would be incredible if he could step up in terms of his forward passing because he brings so much else to the table6 -

Even if he was so good he made prime Messi look like Hasselbaink when he played for us and either assisted or scored 10+ goals every match, I'm sure they'd still be complaining.
I stayed overnight in Cheltenham and am on the way back now. I had several CTFC fans telling me how good they thought Campbell was. The opposition fans see it every single time.19 -

He has moments where he looks amazing and others when he looks non league . That’s frustrating . I don’t buy into him being lazy at all and I know he’s just about the least of our issues , but I think that counts as frustrating . I do appreciate that if he cut out those less good moments, he wouldn’t be playing for us .Stuart_the_Red said:
