    Long season can't judge after 2 games and at least he's making the squad unlike docherty

    Seems his only trick is popping up with a goal. Not basing it on last night, but he doesn't look Championship level at all.

    I don’t think anything has ever ‘happened’ to him. He’s never looked up to The Championship, simple as that. League One player.

    Yes finding a bit frustrating, feel like he has something but not really seen much, he was so behind the game last night.

    We bought him, like Apter and Tanto,  as one of the best in League One hoping they could all step up to the Championship. It’s what we had to do at the time. We have now moved on from that hopefully. Unfortunately none of them look good enough. It’s early days but I think we may end up adding Alli to the list too.

    Thought the same during preseason. Carey’s good at driving with the ball, shooting in  and around the box and takes some decent set pieces, including long throws. His passing and decision making frustrates but if he had everything we’d be selling him this summer for a big fee.

    Knibbs will get a few goals but I’ve never seen anything from him in either his passing or running at the opposition that sticks out as Championship standard, or above what Carey offers.

    I don’t think work rate is an issue with either as it’s one of the first things NJ looks for, even in that 10/AM position.

    Useful squad player for me but even then JRC offers more technical ability, Fullah has a lot of potential and Mwamba might even be able to play in that role. It’s not a given that he’s always the alternative to Carey.

    Keeping him or loaning him out wouldn’t surprise me while we shuffle the squad in these last few days of the window.

    Would still like to see him in a few league games before passing complete judgement on the player personally

    Swap him out last night for Carey and everyone would be on his back instead, it wasn't the player it was the game and the system

    With the need to create squad space, and maybe funds, he feels expendable

    My frustration with Knibbs is how many times you see him on the floor in each appearance.

    A mixture of trying a tad too hard, lacking strength, and knowing he needs to impress.

    Tend to agree, doesn’t feel like he is going to step up as required, which is a bit of a shame, however he may be one to be sacrificed to enhance the team.

    Really want to like Knibbs but can't figure out what he offers.

    He's not quick, strong or skillful. He is so slow pressing down that he has to needlessly slide or flail his arms around to give the impression that he is in fact adding some pressure to the player on the ball.

    Never really "got" him.  I am yet to see this great presser, as said he doesn't have pace, not got a trick or a great passer.

    Maybe he needs a run in the team or maybe the gap between L1 and The Championship is just too great now - not many are able to make the adjustment.

    But on top of an ineffectual previous season. And not coming off the bench in any of the first 3 games of the season.

    I thought it was interesting that when we brought Leaburn on, it was for Knibbs and not for Mbick, who played the full 90.

    Criticism of Carey =/= wanting to drop him for Knibbs

    Beginning to feel like this is the Kaminski and Mannion debate on this forum all over again. Just because you might not rate one doesn’t mean you are a fan of the other option. It’s not a binary situation.

    As there been a single game where he has played well? scored against watford, coventry, Pompey, but cant say I have ever seen him have a good game. at best he just pops up with the odd goal from nowhere

    He looked the business for Reading every time we played them. He had Sam Smith winning everything in the air bulkying centre halves and was able to pick up loads of second balls and knit things together. 

    I think he will get there, crucially he isn't lacking in desire, effort or application.

    Last season was a bit of a write off, would be interested to see how he gets on in the league this season obviously not been used and was crap yesterday (albeit against spurs) but could offer something once he starts getting league minutes

    I call him Temu Bellingham for a reason. Same type of player, just... eh, not as good. 

    The only way to see what he's made of, is if he got a chance to play a string of games in the league, which I can't see happening any time soon.

    Unfortunately whenever he’s had  a chance to stake a claim he’s never really taken it. He was good against Hull but that was a few games away from the end of the season and only one game. Don’t know how many more chances he should get to be honest.
