Jones gave us one of the best away wins in nearly 20 years at the weekend and all the players were dead on their feet with a huge home game against a struggling team in less than 3 days. He was NEVER going to play our first team.

Assume Asimwe would head out on loan anyway. Thought he had an ok game when you consider he's probably league one at best.

Apter, Knibbs, Alli and Assimwe were at least 2 divisions out of it. Get shot of all of them. Where was Burke??1

Positives were Asimwe, Mesik, Jones and Leaburn. McNamara did OK. No one else had a good game.4

Not at all bothered by the result as I didn’t expect anything else. NJ was never going to do anything other than pick a weekend team. The injuries are the main concern feel so sorry for Collins ! Amazed if that isn’t an ACL gone. Ouma didn’t look ready but too early to judge. Massive chance for Apter to show something which he didn’t ! He needs to go, if not sold then loan as he is a waste of squad place. For those moaning I’m not sure what you want, 3 points on Saturday and selection is vindicated0

Listen, I completely understand the decision, I know the league is more important, I know we probably would of lost with our first team out, I know the risk.
However, seeing that lineup walking into the ground, with 10 changes just killed the occasion. Maybe I was expecting a few changes, I wasn’t planning on watching Rob Apter.
Atmosphere after they scored just went, it was practically non existent second half. It was almost like well if the club ain’t bothering then neither should we.
Just a real anti-climax of a night.
Anyway, not overly bothered and onto Preston

Much more annoyed by the injuries than the score honestly. NJ was always likely to see the game as a chance to rest a few legs and run out some of the B team guys. You can agree or disagree with his decision there but it was fairly predictable.
Injuries to 2 players, both in the same position, within 20 minutes is incredible bad luck though, especially as one of those two was the only first choice player of the whole 11.8 -

We need players to get game time. The only player who played at the weekend pulled his bloody hamstring because he’s not ready for three games in a week!
It would have been ludicrous to have seen them all dead on their feet now and be in no fit shape to face Preston on Saturday in about 66 hours!1 -

The result may not have been any different, but had we started the same team as West Ham, we would’ve given them a tad more to think about. As we saw with Koumetio and Collins, the risk is just not worth it in these games. Really hope both can recover quickly and my thoughts were on Preston the minute they got their second
The majority of them put a shift in, particularly Asiimwe, McNamara, Mesik, Alli, Ouma trying his best in his first game in English football

Championship survival is paramount. Without that we are back to square one.One game in a substandard Cup no one cares for anymore is not the place to risk injuries to key players.We would be fuming if 3 key players were crocked for 3 months or more.We didnt play very well after conceding, but popped in a goal when the spuds fell asleep.3

Was a bit surprised at the number of changes but can see why NJ did it and Koumetio getting injured sort of proves that point. Hopefully his injury isn’t too bad and it was more of a precaution but Schindje’s didn’t look at all good and he looked absolutely distraught.
There were a number of positives and a few negatives. On the positive side Mesik did well playing in three positions during the game. Mwamba was excellent when he came on, was very impressed with him. Danny Mac was excellent. Mbick battled away and the experience will stand him in good stead. Asiimwe generally did ok, hasn’t done himself any harm getting a move elsewhere, no future with us I’m afraid.
Negatives, Alli, very disappointed in him. Ouma well off the pace.
Have not read the match thread but already seen Brooks and Apter getting stick on the post match and I don’t understand either. Brooks wasn’t a calamity and for a young lad thrown in at the very deep end he did ok. Let’s not forget he hadn’t played above National League level before and to make your debut in front of 50k at their stadium isn’t easy. Some people need to cut him some slack. Likewise Apter. Put himself about, played right wing, right wing back, left wing back. He wasn’t spectacular but he wasn’t bad either. I’d be more worried about the likes of Knibbs, JRC, Doc and the aforementioned Alli.
At the end of the day though we may have lost Big Billy and Collins for differing number of games and that’s my only real concern.3
