Oliver Skipp is an Addick: Season long loan from Leicester City

He's been brought on in just about every game so far as a defensive forward, Jones clearly trusts him to help see out a wincantersaddick said:
Then double why is he still here? As he's less suited to a role further forward.Leuth said:
JRC was never, ever going to be deployed in the double pivot by Jones, it's the Nkeng signing which jeopardises his minutes, not Skippcantersaddick said:
Bang on assessment. If he recaptures his best form then there is huge upside to this. But at the very least it's an experienced option in a position where we have a fair bit of uncertainty (fitness, age, adapting to the league). Do wonder where this leaves JRC - he's effectively 6th choice for 2 positions now...SDAddick said:

Hair transplant coming for this fella before Christmas I reckon!3

Only know whats been said on here and elsewhere about him but his past fees and orem experience points to him being a Doc upgrade IF we get that player.
Welcome Skippy.0 -
I think this is wrong.golfaddick said:
He was sent off against Burton on the 22nd.LargeAddick said:Welcome Skippy but juries out for me. It says his Valley debut could be next Wednesday, is that the case? Thought he had a three match suspension? Would Leicester’s game last night and ours tonight count as two of them? Would he have even have been eligible to play at WBA?
He missed the game last weekend, tomorrow would be his 2nd match and Sat his 3rd.
But don't listen to me coz I speak bollox apparently.
Yes he was sent off against Burton and had a 3 match ban but his ban should now be served. Red cards are not competition specific so he was suspended for their games against Ipswich in the Carabao Cup and their league games against MK Dons and last night against Plymouth.
Because he was technically still a Leicester player by the registration deadline for their game last night, i believe last night counts as his 3rd match and he should therefore be available for us this weekend.12 -
Wrong, wrong, all wrong.
OS means official site so having a player with those initials breaks all standards of decency.

Seems unnecessary to call us that

Nkeng is one of the 5 widemen who can play either side of the 10 to join TC, Grant, Alli and Apter if Rob isn't persona non grata along with Docherty and is off to Scotland or anywhere the window is still open.
JRC has no pace and even though 'defensive forward' sounds like an oxymoron, Costello did replace Carey in a recent match in the 10 position which is the shadow striker in a 4-2-3-1 and linked from a deeper position than Sonny normally does.
Carey, Knibbs, JRC and the versatile Grant will be all vying for the 10 position.
We have a stronger squad as we attempt to operate away from the trap door. Good start but early days.
Skipp, being in a group here at Charlton with a stronger mentality should/could replicate his best form at Norwich or for a while at Spurs.2 -
Obviously a good youth player - here he stands out v Brazil.
Hopefully this move will be just the thing to get his confidence back - providing he doesn't read this thread about his old looking, ugly, bald headed face ... and only five feet nine toboot
.

Feel like Costello is basically the Andy Hughes in this squad... You stick him in wherever there is a leak somewhereRight-Back / Right Wing-Back / Central Midfield / in the Carey role... Dont need four players to cover those areas when one can do it in an emergency4

Most expensive player we’ve ever signed, albeit on loan? Can’t think of anyone we’ve signed that has cost as much as £20m. Grant was £15m3

Good solid all round player.
and his ban is done which is good.0 -
Every Alou Diarra transfer fee was basically a Callum O'Hare. Different times, manDanny Addick said:Most expensive player we’ve ever signed, albeit on loan? Can’t think of anyone we’ve signed that has cost as much as £20m. Grant was £15m0 -
I wonder how much of his wages we're paying?0

Not one to immediately be wow’ed by, but the immediate reaction to McNamara and Bell last season was also fairly muted, so I’m taking nothing from that.
Leicester fans don’t have much good to say about him, but I can see in their fan site equivalent of our Statbank he ranked 6th out of 26 last season. So with a cooler head, he didn’t have a disaster season.
He has pedigree and needs to re-establish himself. Hopefully that will come with us.
Welcome Oliver29 -
Will Skipp's ban have ended by Stoke on Saturday btw?0

Highly thought of at Spurs
Very Highly thought of at Norwich in their promotion season
Is anyone Highly thought of at Leicester following a double relegation??
Could be a masterstroke.......or could be a disaster.
We'll see6 -
Was a slightly unfortunate red anyway, he didn't exactly go in hard, dangled the leg in high and late. Mind you if he does that for us Nathan will eviscerate his family5

Website said he will be available for QPR.
Not sure what to expect but that's part of the fun I suppose!
Welcome Oliver and good luck! Do feel this could be a gem if he really puts the effort in.1 -
Website mentioned QPR could be his VALLEY debut, along with a link to buy tickets, soking addick said:Website said he will be available for QPR.

We have signed plenty of rubbish in the past and now we have a Skipp.
Go well Oliver11 -
Well....if you skim read, that's very misleading 🤣Leuth said:

Not completely convinced, but I thought the same about Coady and Dykes in January and they both did a decent job.
In Jones we trust!3 -

Welcome Skippy...
He looks about 40 in that photo...😉7 -
Looks a bit of a wrong un, but i thought that about Macnamara too and now Im ok with him.0

And Amari'i Bell, who is one of our best players (and also followed the weirdly specific pattern of signing for Luton from Blackburn and then getting consecutive relegations at Luton). Skipp will be the decideroohaahmortimer said:Back to back relegations with Leicester and the last player we signed who got relegated two seasons on the spin was the wonderful Kaminsky .
this fella with the tough paper round can’t be as bad as that waste of time and money0 -
Just caught up as I didn’t stay up last night.
Well played Admin, the resurrection of that photo with the skips up front & Peter Garland being Peter Garland (he’s my new favourite) was brilliant 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Welcome Oliver, you are loved by the Spurs fans (even though they weren’t quite convinced you were prem quality) so that’s good enough for me.

Not overly excited by this signing, which could be a good thing if my recent judgement continues😂, as I always say once in the shirt he has my full support, good luck and welcome to the club.5
