Eze been much improved this half2

Yeah but still not sure he offers enough.DamoNorthStand said:Eze been much improved this half0 -
Agreed, but although he did a few dribbles, his moves always seem to peter out.DamoNorthStand said:Eze been much improved this halfOne of those “there’s definitely a player in there somewhere” type of players whose quality is often not on show.
I feel like he looked a lot better at Palace. Maybe because he was the big cheese there. For Arsenal and England he’s just a bit meh.1 -
That twat Gabriel Whatsisface asking Tuchel about “belief” again.FFS man, everyone thought you were a prick at the World Cup, why remind us of it? 🙄1

Boooooooooooooooooah!
Only three...1 -
A nice touch of the Oooh Bettys from Ian Wright tonight.

On the way home from Wembley.
England have been outstanding to watch the last couple of weeks. International football generally isn’t the most exciting, but we’ve looked like a proper attacking Premier League team. Some of the attacking movement and finishing is the best I’ve ever seen from England.
We can keep harping on about what happened at the World Cup (I was as wound up about it as anyone - had a ticket and flight on standby for the Final), but we have to focus on the fact that we’re playing great football now and have a home tournament coming up.Long live the Nations League.9 -
We now look a proper proper side. Fancy us in Madrid in November

We look better without Declan Rice. The one and two touch passing through the middle was outstanding. Czechia couldn't keep up.1

If Anderson and Scott are the way in midfield would he look at rice as a ball playing CB. I can’t seem him not playing Rice.3

I was thinking that would seeem to be a possibility. Guehi plays like he is a statue. Not sure it suits this side.ValleyGary said:If Anderson and Scott are the way in midfield would he look at rice as a ball playing CB. I can’t seem him not playing Rice.1 -
More likely to put him at RBValleyGary said:If Anderson and Scott are the way in midfield would he look at rice as a ball playing CB. I can’t seem him not playing Rice.1 -
I think Trent has made a pretty big claim for that position this past couple weeks.fenaddick said:

Would rather Trent had played against Spain. He looks good when we are dominating the lesser lights, but the main issue has always been his actual defending. Need to see him playing against teams where we are actually under pressure2
-
I know they were not the pairing last night, but what has happened with Konsa/Guehi?
they looked so solid together, right up to the World Cup but they seem to have fallen off a cliff since that tournament started.0 -
I think England should start thinking of Rice as a central defender who can step into the midfield. Guehi's passing stats are not terrible, although they are usually simple ones, and he is rigid and ponderous in his movement and that doesn't suit England playing in this new way IMO. Which centre back has a better engine than Rice? One thing noticeable with the England midfield was how good it was with little or no space. Rice in midfield does not thrive under those conditions. From the centre half slot he can read the game and step forward into space as it appears adding another midfielder and a very good one at that. I can only see gains defensively swapping Guehi with Rice.
Morgan Rogers has showed he is a good sub and can add to the team. I think Rashford in this style is a better bet than Eze. He annoyed me with the own goal. The Czech player kicked in his own net because he assumed Eze was with him but he was yards away. That was fortunate and not good enough. He has a part to play in the squad but shouldn't be starting against stronger nations.
Trent only strengthens the side IMO. If we are going to be a front foot side we should accept we are not the strongest defence but we will attack which will be our most effective form of defence. I think with Anderson you can have Scott, Kelly or even Palmer who should not be written off by Tuchel. Especially if he regains his form. Palmer can also be good cover for Bellingham.

They were not playing the same calibre of side regularly before the World Cup. I think the problem is Guehi and we need a leader in there.MrOneLung said:I know they were not the pairing last night, but what has happened with Konsa/Guehi?

If their salts went missing, what did they put in the post-match bath?soapboxsam said:Off_it said:
Croatia were out of salt?soapboxsam said:A brilliant display by England tonight against an out of salt Croatia side where we were attack minded and looking to score on every occasion with crisp passing and forward movement. We scored 7 and it could've been double figures.
BUT I'm even more confused with why Tuchel was so bloody negative against Argentina and why he took Gordon off against Spain which made England lose their momentum and being a top side they punished us especially with Harry's missed pen as well.
England were so fluid that Kane was a poacher in the box with a brace but also he was going so deep he was taking the ball from Pickford ! Total football and a master class 👏🏻
Bellingham is world class and since he got his full fitness back at the World cup, has been a revelation and with Gordon finding this higher level on a more consistent basis we are awesome.
What did they put on their post-match chips then?
Thank you Off it. The s went missing just like any marking by Croatia.1 -
Watched Ireland versus New Zealand in the women’s rugby World Cup, it was a good game and Ireland played quite well but the New Zealand defence was just too good.KBslittlesis said:I went to watch Ireland v Japan in the women’s rugby in Cork so missed this. When himself sent me the score I thought he was pissed!
Watched the game the following morning and bloody hell, how bad were Croatia?
I still managed to scream at the telebox at the amount of chances Saka fecked up. He seems to be going backwards 🧐1 -

Not sure I agree with the idea of shoving the best midfielder in the best team in the country into a centre back or right back position. He's either the best holding midfielder in the country, in which case he plays in that position; or he's not, in which case he doesn't play. I would go with the first option.1

I agree. I think people are getting ahead of themselves. Rice was probably our best player outside of Kane and Bellingham at the world Cup. He's top class and has a lot of experience for his age. One of the struggles at the world Cup was managing his minutes in the absence of a decent replacement. Now we look to have a few young alternatives in that role coming through which is amazing it means we have the option to pick on form, or fitness or even rotate where needed. Competition for places is great. But right now when fit Rice is still first choiceChizz said:Not sure I agree with the idea of shoving the best midfielder in the best team in the country into a centre back or right back position. If he comes back and we look just as good through the middle, he should definitely play. He's the best holding midfielder in the country but Lampard and Gerrard were the two best midfielders and didn't work well together.Chizz said:Not sure I agree with the idea of shoving the best midfielder in the best team in the country into a centre back or right back position. Think Rice's set piece delivery from corners is also something we miss when he isnt there.6

Do you think Rice suits the new system or doesn't that matter?cantersaddick said:
