Carey starting a game before Knibbs does is absolutely f**king laughable. Anonymous yet again4

Well at least my forgotten glasses didn't prevent any goals this time. Good start with the press working. Shame TC missed inside 20 seconds! JRC and Kelman did well for the goal. Then we stopped working. KAG booked, switched to the right, and it all falls apart. We struggle to win the ball then can't keep it. Kelman chasing scraps. Coventry awful. TC anonymous. Carey off the pace. Edwards very rusty. I could go on.
Need Leaburn for Grant, for some physicality. Cov must improve or go off.
We can still win but it will be tough...
COYA!0 -
I feel a few of our players could do with a loan come January0

Why can’t our midfielders put a foot on it and look up? The hoofball is awful and causes so many issues. Give away possession and momentum. It’s the worst thing we do imo.3
-
And why on EARTH is Edwards starting over Mesik? Unless Mesik is injured, he should be starting every game. One of the few players in this team that should have that right.12

sky pundits saying strange how momentum switched after we scored!!!4

What’s Bindon like in a holding midfield role? 😅0

They aren't good enough.1 -
Stopped playing after we scored. Carey,Grant and TC collectively.....shit.0

Edwards hasn't overly done much wrong this week, apart from getting himself a stupid booking.DDOUBLEE said:And why on EARTH is Edwards starting over Mesik? Unless Mesik is injured, he should be starting every game. One of the few players in this team that should have that right.0 -

Grant awful again. I'd bring Miles on instead of him.1

Really good start, maybe our best of the season. We were super aggressive, particularly JRC and Ramsay and we had a a couple of decent chances before the Kelman goal. You're never going to be able to maintain that level of intensity but we have to get better at managing the game after the initial fast start dies down. A better side gets that early goal, drops off a little but then has plans for counter attacks that conserve energy. We did send Kelman away well but he didn't have enough support and I'm still annoyed about the ref giving that foul against TC but instead of us getting our goal and going to the second phase we start panicking. Ramsay and Coventry had a disaster for the goal but it's the wasted passes when we do get the ball that are killing us. Hopefully second half we can come out swinging again, get another goal and manage the game from there. Kelman looks really up for it so there's another goal for him here1

I agree mate, just think that Mesik with his energy, willingness to get forward and workrate must startForeverAddickted said:

Seemed a very harsh booking based on how close he was in the north upper. Was it a deserved yellow?ForeverAddickted said:

We will never dominate any teams under this current management as the team is incapable of playing possession football where it matters.SELR_addicks said:Feels like we always have to be chasing a game in order to actually compete. It's embarrassing.3 -
Well if it stays this way I'll win a couple of beer tokens so there's that. Rather have a win though. That miss by TC in the first 30 seconds could be costly. We seem to be back to "start well, maybe score, but after the first 15 minutes or so we're out of ideas". Or perhaps they were deliberately sitting back more, who knows. That goal against us was gutting standing up at the back though.Feel like maybe changes at half time, or near to, just to give Norwich something different to deal with would be good. we don't seem to be able to execute more than one game plan per setup at the moment.1

God, just put Mesik on the wing, can't be any worse than Grant, Alli or whoever else1

ForeverAddickted said:Been better this week compared to recent games, but then I think our survival hinges on our ability to grind out the points at the Valley more so than what we achieve on the road - We're never going to control games at this level with our sort of budgets, not against teams like Norwich who should once again be doing a lot better what they are with the talent they've got at their disposal.Just continues to show the gap between the Championship and the years we've been allowed to waste away in League One... If you've got the funds over the years to build an established team, you can still look better than a side recently promoted even when out of form!!
Be interesting to see where Bolton (with Brighton's recruitment data) and Lincoln (with a great recruitment track record) finish this season given both have been in L2 more recently than the Championship so the step up must be absolutely massive for them.0 -
Losing battles all over the pitch. Norwich winning most of the second balls, and we're giving away too many stupid fouls. Leaburn on for Carey second half to give Kelman support up front.1

The life of a Charlton fan is not easy, we have promise, then revert to type, this is so feckin frustrating to watch.3

At the ground. All so fucking predictable. Start well and then Jones decides we are going to hang on for 75 minutes and it backfires spectacularly.
Although can't blame Jones for that fucking woeful header from Ramsay that lead to the goal.
JRC has been good, but slow. Carey running hard. Not sure if Coventry is trying to cover too much ground as the sole DM but he's looked well off the pace.1 -

Fwiw I'd go;
Okonkwo
Ramsay - Jones - Koumetio - Edwards
Mwamba - Knibbs
Leaburn - JRC - Campbell
Kelman
Let's remove some of the reliance on JRCs missing pace and bring on a new CM pairing.
If Grant is to go off, I'd not rush it yet but would bring Leaburn in there.1 -
We're shit, and it's becoming obvious that NJ is running out of ideas, so I don't understand why we haven't seen Kelman and Leaburn up front together. If we're gonna just hoof it - which given our squad quality, we're going to do regardless - then a big man/little man combo is the way to go.0
-
Mbick and Mwamba for grant and Carey and go to a diamond.

They don't watch us very often so they think it's strange.EugenesAxe said:sky pundits saying strange how momentum switched after we scored!!!
We watch this crud week in, week out and for us it's standard.1 -
3-5-2 is a must for me this half. We are far too open and they have too much quality to not take one of their chances they’ll get if we stick with 4-3-30
-
If you ask me I'd take another Coady come January and I'd also say try Billy in midfield as he has genuinely been one of our best players but LJ isn't fully on his game and Bindon is well Bindon so that isn't viable0
