I was on holiday in South Africa a few years back and whilst on Safari we came across what looked like a line of thick cotton strung between two trees about 20 ft apart.
I asked the game warden what it was and he said it was from a Bird Eating Spider...............A spider that catched birds and eats them!! These muthfu**ers have 10mm fangs!!
We get loads of Wolf Spiders and Black Widows on the West Coast of Canada here and for some reason they won't set up camp anyway near walnuts (that haven't been cracked). Don't ask me how or why but it works when we put the walnuts in the areas we don't want spiders.
I don't give a monkeys about spiders but something to worry about is the bears that are out of control this year as our bin men have been on strike for the last 7 weeks.
Don't have a problem with spiders but I hate that crunching noise and feeling you get when you pick them and crush them. Have to use some paper to do it.

Well there are also spider-eating wasps - they could wipe each other out and we could be swarmed by flies instead!
