millwall in the snow- had only missed a handful of matches home and away for years. just couldn't bear the thought of losing to them again. wanted to be alone so wandered the streets with my walkman on. went absolutely mental.

bad day today as you can proberly tell
  • in terms of when i've actually been alive and could have reasonably gone...

Chelsea away in the Carling Cup - couldn't get a ticket!

West Ham last season - made the choice to go to come back to london for Watford away the week before instead - stupid or what?!
  • missed the leeds away play off game , i didn't fancy going up there on my own(bottled it) and felt so guilty not being up there and listening to the radio , there was no way i was gonna miss the play off replay final at st andrews, now that was pure heaven doing that scummy lot in extra time .... goosebumps just seeing footage of shirtliff score that winner

[cite]Posted By: Riscardo[/cite]The Leeds away game at St Andrews. I used to go to games on my own, and really couldnt do that one. Was listening on the radio and remember running up and down the street when Shirts scored the second ...

I didn't go that that one either. Went to the game at Elland Road and afterwards got whacked round the head with a piece of wood, chased up the road and my mate had his car windows put in. To be honest, I was shit scared to go and face that lot again.

Did both of the first two game but couldn't take the time off work at such short notice.

Was walking down to pick up the wife from the station after a late shift when I bumped into someone listening to a portatble radio. Shirtliff scored the second and we were, total strangers, dancing in the street.
  • Nice one WSS - cheers.

That was a very loud Valley crowd!!!

    Robbboooooo!!!
  • One of the games of the season said the commentator....I think it was probably our best game ever in the Prem.....such an exciting game.
  • I missed the 4-2 v Chelsea as well, I had agreed to go to Holland for Christmas prior to the fixtures coming out. Luckily it was on 'as live' on Dutch Satellite TV immediately after the game finished. So I did not find out the result and then watched it on the box in full. However this did not please the families (both mine who I had brought with me) and those I was staying with....
  • [quote][cite]Posted By: Off_it[/cite]A lion - that's pretty big, i'm sure you'd agree. I followed him on foot but stepped on a twig and the bastard ran off.[/quote]

Pah, I missed a giraffe from 20 yards. Told the fooker to wind his neck in and he did.

    (well you started it!)
  • [cite]Posted By: LenGlover[/cite]First game back. Couldn't get a ticket.

Same with me Len. Did go to the Valley with £200 to see if I could get two, one for me and one for my Dad. I got offered one ticket - typical! Watched some of the celebrations from The Heights by the Sam Bartram entrance until the OB decided we were a danger to public order and moved us out.
  • Play off final for me,broke my leg playing football the day before and due to swelling they couldn't operate on me until the Tuesday.Listened to the game on the radio on the hospital balcony and my mates sister got on the parade bus and got my shirt signed so it wasn't that bad after all.Especially missing such a poor game......:-( :-(

  • the 4-2 at Highbury.........had the in-laws round for lunch and watched in on tv. Not the same as being there and a particularly sore point as i've been to Highbury and the Emirates a few times now (10-12) and never seeen us win.

the 2-0 win v the spanners in the snow. Had to work and as per a previous post thought either we would lose or it would be called off. Another pain 'cause again I havn't seen a win at either den i don't think.

3-1 at Carlise in the 85/86 promotion season.

apart from those I can say that i have (luckily) been at most of our triumphs & disasters over the past 25 years.
  • 4-4 with west ham. Had a season ticket that year but i was only 5 and it was a night game, dad said it was too late.
  • By the looks of it, it'll be this year's Carling Cup Final if I cant get hold of a ticket.

If anyone has any floating about, I'm interested at whatever price...

He probably just wanted to go to the pub CRJ...
  • missed the play off final as my mum had booked a hol in florida!i still havnt forgiven her. was on the fone to my cousin when the penalties where being taken.when grey missed i jumped straight in the pool fully clothed
  • Play off final. On holiday in Spain and had to listen to it on Sky (no card but could get sound then). Sat with my 2 year old son and 9 year old nephew who quite honestly didn't have a clue why I was going mad all the time. The rest of the family had buggered off to the supermarket round the corner and when Sasa saved THAT pen I picked up the kids, ran round the corner into the supermarket and there we all stood going absolutely mental - the locals thought we'd lost it.

To make it worse I won't make this year's if we get there as I, like others, will fall foul of the Monday-Saturday switch.
