[cite]Posted By: suzisausage[/cite]thats cos you got in there early at 2pm so were half cut by the time everyone else was playing catch up. sod off with your poncey guiness in a wine glass :-)
I don't intend putting any more of my cash his way but that wasn't the reason everyone left it was just coincidence and a coincidence I was pretty happy with, allbeit leading to a visit to the oak.
The beer me and Stu were served the other week was shockingly bad, for a lager to have brown floating chunks in is one thing. To get the second pint looking exactly the same after the first defect being pointed out and getting the beer exchanged to do it again is exceptionally stupid.
I was outside when he said to AFKA (who was merely pointing out that we were hardly Palace fans) to f*ck off. That alone did it for me, so my attitude is bollocks to him and his pub that apparently does not need football trade.
[cite]Posted By: suzisausage[/cite]swan is ok when its warm as it was for scunthorpe at home at the beginning of the season, i'd be happy to head there or the anchor when its warmer, its pretty grim inside though.
Just don't stand near the bogs or take a peg for your nose...... At least you can get served in there.
i am genuinely surprised regards the happennings at the bugle, though don't doubt it happened as my better half said she witnessed some of what's been said.
i knew the landlord had to adopt a strict door policy on the night (he had warned us re season tickets at the previous home game), and i think he was a bit pissed off that his regular friday trade had decided to go elsewhere, (trade that he may not get back straight away), still no excuse for the attitude though.
in my experiences, the lager has always been alright in there, the service probably one of the quickest at any football matchday pub, the landlord/barstaff friendly enough (even had after hours drinks whilst waiting for taxis), it has sky and setanta and usually accomodates both if 2 things on together.
again in my experiences the only downsides to it are it's a bit pricey and isn't exactly leading the pack when it comes to decor.
perhaps my crowd have been lucky or our faces fit for some reason.
Fair one Paul, but a publican only has to behave like that toward me once, I was not the only one and as has always been my view on publicans they need me not the other way round.
I never watch the football on the box in there anyway and because of that divvy landlord I won't have to worry about that again.
Lets face it: both the pubs in the Village are hole's as is the Valley pub, the Oak is nice but very, very ,very poorly run, the Anti we aren't allowed in (though is quite nice inside) Rose of Denmark and Pickwick are pretty awful Anchor and Hope not so bad on a warm day
British Oak - Old Dover Road is where I am heading back to.

What, in the bogs?

I'd say Blackheath Rugby Club but then I may not make it to the match. . .
you reckoon on getting a game then falc!! ;-)
Club supply shirts etc for the wall
We have more common sense than most landlords in the area
Bobs your uncle everyone's a winner
Friday was exceptional but since the Horse and Groom has closed its been a nightmare.
Is there any way we can get the Oak to post their views on here so we can understand why its so difficult.
Ditto. The 4 pint jugs go down way too easily
