There's an old film called 'The Arsenal Stadium mystery' Which was a kind of detective whodunnit centred around a match between Arsenal and Charlton. It has actual footage of an Arsenal V Charlton match.
The Buster reference was about Charlton beating Man City 5-0 in Eddie Firmani's return match for Charlton.
Jimmy Pursey (Sham69) recorded his world cup video at the Valley.
Question of Sport last night. Name teams linked by three players:
"Scott Parker, John Salako (??!!), Mark Fish."
Phil Tuffnell got it right, but his team still lost.
Guests included Tim Cahill and Bennie McCarthy, both of whom we were supposed to sign on various occasions, so I was disappointed neither of them got it!
I saw a film once when I was a kid, it was about a mental patient giving pills to children, sort of a race against time thriller (not a childrens film). It was filmed all around Charlton FC and the surrounding areas, Woolwich Ferry etc. In one scene the father of a child was called by tannoy from the crowds of a Charlton match. I'd say it was made late 50's early 60's. Any idea what it was called, sadly I was very young and it was late on a Saturday night BBC. I was just in from a night out with the parents from Blackheath Liberal Club ( now The Newbridge).
Aaaah. The famous Charlton City v Millwall Utd clash of 1972. Great dialogue, but that scene at 56 minutes is a bit unrealistic as they actually have a fight instead of just gesturing a lot and talking about it.
What was the film about the Munich air disaster? We were featured in that playing at Old Trafford in the cup. My memory is shocking this morning, because I can't even recall the name of the actor who played Matt Busby! Who was saying in the changing rooms, 'who the hell are Charlton!?'.
was just going to mention it. I've got a treat for you guys.
The 2011 BBC film, United. The Beeb resisted the tempation to go all sentimental and the first part of the film is all about how football has changed so much. But it does focus on Bobby Charlton - and particularly his debut, against us. The film shows the pre match team talks of Matt Busby ('watch out for the big number 9 - he's faster than you think') and especially David Tennant, playing Jimmy Murphy screwing up his face to say "I bloody HATE Charlton!" and continuing with a rant against all things cockney.
You can find it on You Tube in seven bites, this one shows the CAFC relevant bit. But I recommend to watch the whole thing. It is the BBC at its very best.
All Matt Busby says to Bobby Charlton in his team talk is : "And you. Play your game. Not theirs..."
There's an episode of Spooks where they drive up the top of Floyd Road and emerge opposite the Valley Cafe. Think most of the filming for Spooks was done in and around South London.
There was a television programme called Alberts Memorial..... David Jason and David Warner played ex soldiers who took their friend Albert to be buried in Germany, when they get there they put his body in the ground and David Jason drapes a charlton flag over him...... to which Warner argues he hated them and he would turn in his grave!
Also cult film 'Bronco Bullfrog while not mentioning Charlton has a number of scenes which I'm sure were filmed on the Woolwich Road near the 'Poll Tax' bridge and round by the Rose of Denmark. Then of course there's Blow Up which was centred around Maryon Park.
Thought it was strange once on eastenders ricky butcher looks at a football card with Scott Parker on it. Actually says "oh Scott Parker he would have been an England regular if he stayed at Charlton".
Surely the strangest ever Charlton appearance has to be on the long running Australian soap opera 'Sons & Daughters' which used to air on ITV (I think) weekdays just before the kids programs started at 3pm back in the 80's.
There was a scene where the camera zoomed in on a dinner party invitation and the address clearly read: Charlton Athletic FC The Valley London SE7
How it got there or why it was chosen seeing as the show was shot in Melborne I'll never know....anyone shed any light on this?!
Park scenes in Blow Up with David Hemmings filmed in Maryon Park, I think. Also, Hemmings driving his Bentley convertible are filmed in Charlton and Woolwich.

I seem to remember this but I thought it was an actual match ticket.
I remember seen on an old Aussie teen soap equivalent to hollyoaks called heartbreak high where a football match was in progress and a young Chinese lad was wearing the old admiral away blue woolwich kit.
The TV series based on the book "The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole". I seem to remember a scene when they are watching a Charlton game (against West Ham I think) and Robert Lee scores . Anyone got a clip as its driving me crazy. I'm sure it happened though.
Now, this is an obscure one, but deserves to be recorded here as it was far more than a 'mention' of Charlton. In the 70s there was a one-off TV play called The Back Page which was set entirely in The Valley press box (though clearly studio-filmed)
It featured banter and tensions among a small group of reporters for a midweek fixture against Notts County. No match footage is shown, but they refer to real events at our game vs County that season, including a bizarre penalty we got for handball when a County player picked the ball up, thinking the ref had blown his whistle for something.
I've never seen any footage of it since the original transmission, but in case you think I'm making all this up:

I also remember the episode it must have been around 20years ago and the plot I think revolved around a missing cassette tape . I can remember getting a lump in my throat seeing the words Charlton Athletic , I have always thought it was a ticket or tape for the famous Valley Who concert.

Judith 'first jackpot winner on Millionaire' Keppel picked Birmingham !!!!!
A film called "Made" 1972, go to about 55 mins in, there is a screen filmed outside the ground, with a fight between two sets of fans.
The whole film is based around Woolwich, Charlton & Greenwich.

Definitely a fan on the writing team.
