"gone up by £202 from £398 to £600 they said to expect a small increase so we all thought maybe £40 what a shock, other areas are even more, having a f**king laugh"
It's not just the range though, it's the distribution of the prices. Would you pay £600 for a season ticket in the Upper North? Because that's basically what they're being asked to do.
Their kids prices aren't too bad - in certain parts of the ground accompanied under eights are free and under 16s are £99, but in most of the rest they are £199. The really bonkers bit is the Platinum section by the Directors Box - £699 for adults and £449 for kids and concessions. WTF?!

let's face it there'll be a bit of decent brass to look at in that section and we all know they don't cum cheap(allegedly)
If this is true it's yet another reason why we have to hope that if a wealthy backer buys Charlton that they have the interests of the fans at heart and are not out on an ego job or get rich scheme.
Just indicative of the rising cost of football. Used to be affordable, then got a bit silly now it's ludicrous....£600 for Championship football.....under Dowie too, talk about trying your hardest to alienate your fans!
i have always set a limit on my season ticket price of £500 if it ever goes over that then i wont go any more i can not justify that amount of money to watch a game of footie every other week.
this season 2 tickets have cost me £440 in the nth upper mine and NLJR so i reckon i will have another 3 season maybe 4 before i start picking and choosing and going to away games instead of home games so that we can make a day of it
compare our prices to those abroad and we are being robbed even at charlton
I think i read Bundesliga tickets are cheaper as are spanish i am not 100% sure but i am sure i heard it said
its emotional blackmail as fans in this country we give our heart and soul to the club we truely love the clubs we follow.
players managers come and go but a true fan will never leave no matter how bad it gets and we as charlton fans are testimony to that fact.
so you feel compelled to pay it in a way you need to pay it.
but the german fans are just as pasionate their teams are successful at the top end and i am sure bayern season tickets are cheap so how do they survive and achieve
i can tell you that i wont be happy when 500 quid is not enough to see charlton for a season we better be champions league winners and in europe every season
i really dont know how i will spend my saturdays when the tickets get too much
when i think back on how much fun i had as teenager jollying it up around the country seeing things doing things that my mum and dad would have gone mad about but we was at footie the songs were fine the craic on the trains and coaches was fine (nothing too bad i must add) but it was a great life experience.
how is it not emotional blackmail to know that too let my son enjoy that is going too cost me a fortune
he sees and hears stories now that he already says i cant wait to go there see that but due to the rising costs of footie i know he is not going to be able too
we may have to agree to disagree inspector about if it is or isnt emotional blackmail
but the costs are getting too much the travel costs are huge the match day costs are huge and the match tickets are huge.
the disproportionate amount of money that the players can demand have rasied the costs but to a degree so has the greed of some clubs and it is teams like us with no real chance of true glory FA cup, European honours are never going to come to us that get caught up in the tidal wave trying to compete with mediocraty.
we will never be top 4 prem i cant see us being top 10 in the prem
but we will pay twice in some cases 3 times as much per season ticket than a team in germany who play champions league footie and for why because the pull of the club is so strong that we will find the cash some how
I have spurs mates that have been season ticket holders for 20 years this season not renewing due to their price being in excess of £700 for the same ticket they have had for years
this year being the first time of silver wear in years they paid xtra for european matches fa cup matches league cup matches yet their club spent £60 million+ on players for them to finsih where i the league
too me it is not on, football was a working mans release and has been for ages going sky wards in cost and now QPR can charge 600 quid for division 2 football
A Premiership with no relegation with teams that have super rich owners is the way to go. So that clubs like Charlton who are not rich can play in their on league/s with salary caps so match day tickets for fans would be responable. Wont happen of course.

Just pack the BIG four off to a permanent "champions" league and that'll give us back a proper competitive league structure.
[cite]Posted By: Salad[/cite]Basically the SKY money has raised the stakes all round.
English clubs get the most SKY money, English clubs charge the highest prices.
If our clubs get the most money through TV deals, why do they charge the most to get in? Surely they can afford cheaper tickets due to the massive amount of tv money? Charlton offering the deal of free tickets if they get promotion shows how much prem clubs actually rely on the ticket money.
But whilst most prem clubs sell out week in week out, the clubs will go on charging it.

Never thought I would say it but I am now inclined to agree............
[cite]Posted By: nth london addick[/cite]For me i really can not see justification to pay more than £300 in any area for any footblaa ground outside the premier league
in the prem no more than £500 ridiculous prices
The thing that gets you about QPR and Chelski etc for that matter - is that the owners are so rich they could let everyone in for a tenner or even nought without making a dent in their petty cash but what do they do?
I suppose that's how they get their money in the first place - fleecing all the punters comes naturally to them!

FC UTD and AFC Wimbledon may have more sense than we think
I don't buy all this FC United, AFC business to be honest. I think its a cop out and a chance for individuals who don't have power to become a collective to exert power. 'its my ball' etc
Wimbledon is a different case because their club was literally taken from then. But whenever a club is in a bit of trouble doing bad, or has a wrong un involved, people will always through up the 'can't wait for AFC Charlton / Millwall / Gillingham etc'
It just seems all too much like a good rant to me rather than dealing with the actual issues. And there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that if any of these so-called reformed clubs 'for the fans' re-emerge in the football league, they will be absolutely no different to other clubs in the league.
It's already happening now with AFC Wimbledon - competing with teams that can afford to pay higher wages, that sort of thing. That said, the attendances are holding up - but at 2,500, it's a small enough level where people *feel* involved. Barcelona have hundreds of thousands of members but they aren't going to turn up on a Sunday morning in the summer to clean weeds out of the Nou Camp's car park. Will be interesting to see how they do the further up they go.
I admire the principle behind FCUM, but there's an overwhelming sense of smugness about the enterprise, from those who still pretend that Manchester United was some sort of socialist entity before the Glazers walked in. (And a fair few have hung on to their Old Trafford allegance, anyway.)
The only thoughts that i had on the whole FC UTD and AFC wimbledon was that not enough would go and that it would make no impact on their respective clubs which as it is has turned out to be true.
However the point of them uping and going to start a new club to stick 2 fingers at those that are in their mind ruining their club is someting that needs applauding.
The thruth to me will be that when and if they reach league status how much would they charge to get in and where would they look towards for future investment
Hello, i am a scotsman and never supported any football teams, but i feel so compelled to write about the out of control prices in the football, at a time when footballers earn a years,2 years, wages in a week.....i heard on the radio 5 live that a season ticket for Barcelona football club is £70!are British people completely mad? apathetic? this is insanity, gone bloody mad!! ....... in spain where my mate who lives there, pays £60 a year council tax!! bin men collect the refuse, EVERY NIGHT 7 DAYS A WEEK.in spain... now on a day when the fuel crisis hits the roads,......this really is a crisis from all over...i am 47 in Glasgow and for some reason dont know why but always hoped charlton done ok,i like charlton.. ....thats why i joined this forum. i am very concerned with all the prices...reading some of the messages of folk who have followed their team from teenager is upsetting, when they say they may have to quit going to football?!! so awful, and not justified, when you get footballers eaning obscene wages.....OH MY GOD!! ITS TIME TO STAND UP...I AM HAPPY TO BE A SPOKESMAN... WHATEVER..... THIS IS LUDICROUS....surely a man out working all week should not need to worry about bills especially season football tickets.??
thanks for the welcome large addict, i do get a bit worked up, i know its not comfortable reading when i go on about all folk being ripped off etc but we need to speak it out ......its just so much money going to the individual, instead of the masses the people who matter, getting a fair deal. hope it changes one day.

But it's supply and demand. Who's being ripped off if people are content to pay astronomical sums?

Not sure about Germany, but Spanish teams tend to be members' clubs anyway, so they don't have the need to make huge profits for shareholders.
