Reality is that just about every club other than Real Madrid or Man Utd (and maybe even them) is a "selling" club when a bigger/richer club comes calling.
If Shelvey is as good as we think then of course we will get offers and interest. There were something like a 100 scouts at the last FA youth cup game and every club in England will know about him.
We shall see. If we look after him and he's playing and developing he may decide to hang around. If he signs a pro contract at 17 (in Feb 2009) then we will at least get a good deal ala Ramsey and Walcott.
No point worrying or getting depressed about it. That is football in the 21st century. I'd rather he was very very good, got us promoted, we got a few seasons out of him and then got a big sum than he was a flop.
And anyway, in two seasons the Ivory Coast kids will have their work permits and be the new stars.
[cite]Posted By: razil[/cite]Have to agree about Holland not being all that, but think the thread originator needs to lighten up a bit, I thought I was a miserable sod till I read this..
All i said was enjoy him this season,i personally believe that is all we have him for as he is a class act. What's miserable about that you jockey.
Where's the anger? I have been told to lighten up because I stated Jonjo was a class act and I believe he will be snapped and the end of next season,no anger in that.If you are refering to my Jockey comment that was in response to Razil's posting.

Whats the inside track on these kids Henry? Are they the real deal (age notwithstanding)?
So I am told but I've never seen them. A youth team from ASEC beat a youth and reserve side at Sparrows Lane and next year they will be 4 or 5 playing for Nancy and Angers. Nancy are in the UEFA cup next season.
Still got some older kids in Finland and L'Orient but I'm told this next batch is the real thing.

As I understand it we get first dips at all their youth players in return for funding their academy.
