Been to a couple of wedding receptions there and the upstairs is a decent size and I even think they can do a marquee outside depending on time of year etc.

Know it well, did look at it a while back, but its expensive for what and where it is, better places for the same money
[cite]Posted By: DA9[/cite]Anyone know any that can accomodate 80 minimum for meal and 250+ for evening reception, Kent or borders?
And yes...2 years time hopefully
my mate is a budding wedding planner, so she will know! congrats!
Cheers Suz, been emailing lots of venues in Kent, got a couple of favourites (Hop Farm, Cooling Barn), just wondered if anyone on here knew of a decent localish place.

Cooling Castle and the Hop Farm are both excellent venues mate, especially Cooling...
Had a look at that, being in Swanley puts me off a little although the hall looks ok
Don't let it put you off. I live in that Road and it's absolutely fine. If you book through me, I might be able to get a discount. Can't guarantee it though. Mrs McMoist was the Mayor of Swanley a couple of years ago and is a STH so be careful what you say about Swanley or she'll come round and sort you out.

i went to a reception at Cooling a couple of months ago..
really nice in there..
just found the hop farm, and my mate is getting married in 2010 at cooling barn.
my brother got married 2 weeks ago at turkey mill maidstone which was amazing
I also went to a wedding in a church in stone and then the reception was at the dartford masonic centre near dartford grammar - not sure of how many it would hold, but it was good

Cooling all booked for 2010 dates we want, can do winter months, but waste of the grounds IMO, Hop Farm still to confirm availability.

the only thing with turkey mill is that the pergula where you currently get married under is going to be covered over and turned into a conservatory - the grounds are amazing - and obviously gorgeous in the summer - they can't show anyone the plans of what the conservatory will look like other than it will be ready for 2010. the inside bit is lovely also though, although i think its a waste to get married inside, when the weather is nice but i guess the conservatory will cater for any weather eventuality
i'll whisper you a pic of what the weddings look like there
The Knowle...Higham...(near Shorne Ridgeway.)
Massive old (but very beautiful), Victorian house with superb food and delightful gardens....specialise in weddings and functions. Plenty of parking too, which is a consideration often overlooked.
I may add that I cannot recommend this more highly for Sunday lunch... available only in the winter months....possibly the best I've ever had....and I've had some over the years.
A dessert trolley to die for!!!
You need to book.
