Best corporate freebie you've received

I was just making a cup of tea and noticed my Prague mug which I bought at Prague airport on the way home after scoring an invite from Exxon-Mobil to go to an awards ceremony in Prague a few Christmasses ago. Free travel, a night in the Prague Hilton, a sight-seeing trip round Prague plus a dinner with plenty of drinking after the event in a free bar. And then a trip to the Christmas Markt in Wencelas Square the next day to clear the head before heading home.

    Speak for yourself !

Used to get loads of lunches / dinners / parties etc in my old role. Best one was when a money broker firm hired Nylon at Moorgate for a Thursday night. DJ's, dancers, acrobats, flame throwers, the works. Had a vodka shot bar with a hundred different flavours. We caned it, and he had to leave by 8pm. He passed out round the corner, woke up by the bins at 6am, and came straight into work smelling like shite !

Im off to the Munich Beer Fest next week on a freebie, probably the best so far other than I have to miss Palace.

Two days in Germany, come back and off to Newmarket races on a freebie the next day.

Makes up for the stupidly long days I have done recently.

There's no freebies in the bit of HMG I work in. Best I've had are a couple of trips to Luxembourg, but It wasn't a jolly, I still had to work. There is one afternoon of the year that I absolutely adore as a public servant though: Maunday Thursday. Hit the pub at lunchtime and then stay there when all the private sector workers have to scurry back to work. For that one day a year I feel like a lord; it makes my "career" choice almost worth it.

but probably best all-in frebie was the recent 5 day trip to te Bahamas that myself & the wife went on. Fully paid by my employer out of his own pocket (ie, no benefit in kind to pay) stayed at the 5 star Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island with all meals & excursions paid for. Only downside was that it was at the start of the hurrican season & caught the dge of Hurrican Fay - tropical storm for 2 days and so had to stay indorrs making use of the amenities on offer.

Been on fully paid 5 star trips to Barcelona, Prague and Monte Carlo with my current company.

Every single one was fantastic. Especially Barca 2005 when I ended up being sandwiched between 2 scandanavian girls in the jacuzzi in my room.

Earned me legendary status at work. ;-)

-tickets for england cricket with debenture passes, didn't pay for a thing all day
-2 days in brighton at the pelirocco hotel with meals cocktails clubs thrown in - xmas 2 day party
-copenhagen 'work trip' for 2 days went on all the rides at tivoli gardens in december - beautiful
-dec's work paid for us to conveniently stay in a lush hotel in newcastle which just happened to coincide with a weekend when charlton were playing up there. he had to go to a 2 hour meeting on the friday morning but otherwise the travel and hotel were free - for 2 nights! nice.

oh, and not through work, but best freebie was front row tickets to rolling stones at twickenham. ex g'f of my cousin's dad is an artist and works with ronnie woods wife/ex wife! random connection but thank you to them cos it was awesome.

got an invite into the sponsors lounge (the Sun were the sponsors that day) at the Valley one sunny December Saturday... what a day that was. Bob Bolder frightened for his life as our host, not as frightened as Parker was when he walked into the dressing room to catch me sniffing kielys shirt. it didnt help that i had been out till 5am that previous morning.

    never forget that day. Brilliant.

england v nz at twickers a couple of years back. Got home and put the programme and ticket stubs on ebay, other freebie 'erberts there didn't want to keep theirs,

sold for approx £12 each - programme anD stub together- amazing what people will buy on there.

Played at Highbury in a charity game FOR Rank Xerox for Nigel Winterburn's testimonial (not in the tesimonial itsefl) at half time in front of 25k fans - Glasgow Rangers were the oppo which was even better. Met all the players after inc Gazza, McCoist, Merson , Seaman etc. My first touch of the ball was to tread on it but played well after set up a couple of goals - upset the rangers fan by tackling some fat old boy who they taken on as their mascot - good night all round. Got full arsenal kit (sorry GH) with my name on the bak as a memento and match programme with name in it as well. Amazing ptich to play on Highbury like a carpet.

Yeah, same drills they use for oil wells they use on skulls (only smaller). As it was Texas got to practise on cow's skulls.

I was away last Christmas so missed out on a fair bit. Did see the varsity match at Twickenham and get a day trip to Paris last year.

I take it your wife went to see a testing Henry, they're great days out! Although my boss went for one once in Amsterdam and the client offered him a brass, he turned it down so he asked if he wanted to watch him go at it instead! Some people!

Organised a corporate day at CAFC v Newcastle in the December just before we sold Parker - complete with Q&A with Killer and a tour of the stadium before the match. In our case it was Carlton Cole who got the full effect of a mob of raucous supporters interrupting his moment of peace and quiet on his mobile as we burst into the dressing room.

Trip to Chicago to win an award and present at a conference was a pretty good one.

Mr Weegie got us a trip with Foster's to the British GP a couple of times - once with the helicopter trip in and out. I wasn't best pleased when our helicopter broke down, meaning we didn't get back to our hotel till 8.15pm - so we missed the first 15 mins of the France v Brazil World Cup Final! (How ungrateful of me....)

And he also got us invited on a trip to New Orleans which ended rather dramatically with us needing to be evacuated on an eight hour bus journey to Houston in case hurricane Georges hit. That one missed just a couple of years before Katrina. Enjoyed sending the fax (yes, that long ago) to work on the Monday morning saying I was going to be back a day late due to a hurricane...

Tend to knock them back to be honest as they're usually more hassle than they're worth. For me my free time is just that, I might be at a football match or dinner that I'm not paying for, but someone will doubtlessly be trying, however gently to sell me something. I also really don't like taking a proper fan's seat, so tend to KB these things.

Had a couple of good trips to see vendors - Delhi was cool. Was supposed to be in Budapest this week, which I was really looking forward to, but got canned cos of work. Ah well, I can play the martyr for a couple of weeks.

Best thing I get isn't a corporate freebie, but just the points you get from staying in hotels due to work, which has lead to a number of free holidays and, because of the number of nights I stay with them they tend to believe I'm of some importance (I'm not) and upgrade me to all kiinds of suites and villas. Airmiles are generally fairly pointless though, I seem to pay almost as much for my "free" flights as I would if I just payed for the things.

I stayed there once. Funky place, but I couldn't get used to the room service menu (no food, just vibros and soft porn, crazy Brightoners),

I'm usually the one offering the freebies - do a Michelin stared lunch a month at least, got a box at Wembley and the O2, whisk people off to GP's all over the world (altho I usually don't go on those as am not keen on flying) and do all the major rugby internationals too... Whilst I am 'working' at these events it's not that hard - as long as I don't get as pissed as the journalists and so can make sure they all get home safely then anything goes... Running the backstage at V Festival and helping out at Glastonbury still my personal highlights - yes I was working, but what a job to have....
