Also very sad and hoping one of the true legends in sport pulls through - from someone who is not much of a golf fan.

    Ditto.

"Throughout my entire career I have been one of the best at overcoming obstacles on the golf course. And now I want to be the best, facing the most difficult game of my life, using all my strength and also counting on those who have been sending me get-well messages."

    Ahem.

Sounds like he is really going through it best wishes to him

Shit. Thought he was pulling through - a hero of my time, we won't ever see the like of Seve again sadly.

I saw him play at the Open at Sandwich in 1981. I only saw him play one hole and he chipped in, typical Seve. One of my all time favourite sportsmen. Gutted.

There's a lot said about 'legends' nowadays, what with all the hyperbole about sport and sportsmen. In Seve's case it is more than justified - he is a fantastic sportsmen, transcends his sport and is loved by pretty much everyone. Even people I know who know nothing about golf still love Seve. It's not looking good, but hoping he can pull through.

    Totally agree with Leroy.

Without him European golf would be nothing.

Charismatic, entertaining, brilliant, played the game with a smile on his face.

So many dour, faceless sportsmen about these days. He puts them to shame.

    Hope he pulls through

I know fuck all about golf but I do know Seve and this saddens me. I. Just like him. when family stay stuff like this we must assume there's pretty much no hope.

Fantastic golfer and personality and a genuine sporting legend. Had the pleasure of watching him play live on a couple of occasions; always had one of the biggest followings in the UK but in the US it was easy to get really close.

Sound bad but maybe, just m,aybe, there's still some hope.

    RIP Seve.

Legend is perhaps over used but no word is more relevant to describe him.

Thoughts are with his family and friends, at least his pain can stop now.
