Would you stand up and be counted?

Although its a hypothetical question at this moment in time, if we lose our next three league games, who would protest outside the ground after the Sheff U game?

  • No, I'd miss my lift home....
  • yes I would, if they held it after half time as that was when I left Saturday, otherwise I would obviously be in the bar by then.

It won't come to that. I'm confident he'll be gone by then.
  • I really don't get the point of all this. We just end up looking like stupid, fickle Newcastle supporters. We should just leave it to Richard Murray & the Board of Directors to do what is best for the club. They are not silly, & will have a lot more information than we do as to what is really going on behind the scenes. And we know that we can trust them to do what is necessary in the club's best interests.

So, I guess my answer is no; leave it to Richard.

Hi Pete - If Pardew is still in a place after losing our next 3 games then I would suggest that Richard M Dave W and co have been on the happy fags.......

By the way, the answer is also a no from me - unless they held it in the Con Club or Oak.
  • Nope,Like most people i will be in the pub
  • At the beginig of the season I ALWAYS said I would give the guy until Christmas..I'm gonna stick by that.

brave and unusual, most Guys tend to get incinerated on, or around the 5th of November, I vote sooner rather than later.
  • not for me but good luck to anyone who wants to do it.

If people are angry then they are right to vent that in a sensible way but not sure if it will make a difference as I personally don't think that the board are indifferent or unaware of the situation.

If the target is Pardew and if he is as arrogant as many have described on here then it will have no impact on him. Personally I don't think that is the case but that's just my view.

Also as Red Pete says it would be portrayed as stupid fickle Charlton fans by the media.

Thought your boycott the first 10 mins was a better idea as would a white hankie display ala Spain but I can't see enough people taking part to make it effective.
  • the white hanky thing is far too camp, even for the West Stand. it might work at Selhurst, as for missing the first ten minutes, we tend to do that anyway as it takes us a while to gather up the courage to leave the pub nowadays.

  • if we lose next 3 games and he is still here, then the turn your back or stay downstairs protest would be much more effective. If he is still here and we lose the next 2 i will be gobsmacked.

Do folk 'have ' white hankies(or any colour come to think of it) nowadays to wave anyway?
  • In some ways winning the next two games could be even worse for the club than losing them.

Sounds perverse but if it happens it could give him the lifeline.
  • some people obviously do, especially in Spain by all acoounts. Don't they know why sleeves were invented?

    Agreed.
  • Do what the Reading fans did with the pant waving at Pards
  • Pant waving, now that is dodgy,

that might put us into the top half!

    "Perverse" more like bloody stupid.

Are people really so anti Pardew now that they would rather see him sacked than win a couple on the spin and turn things around?

Know what you mean but no way can I ever hope for Charlton to lose a game.

I won't defend Pards but i think we're stuck with him and no matter what i'll back the teams that he sends out while he is in charge. Football is a funny game and i still believe we can head upwards into the top half of the table in the next couple of months.

I don't think i'd protest outside of ground but i think recent press reports will ensure that an 'actual' protest takes place soon.

Of course I don't want Charlton to lose - I never would. Maybe I didnt articulate it well enough.

Good question though BDV - be interesting to see the consensus on here.
  • Back to WIWALB's original question.

    Yes.

Love they way some are happy to give out their opinions, but equally happy to leave it to others to do the dirty work....

Not taking part in a protest is not leaving it to others "to do their dirty work" unless you agree with the protest but won't take part.

If you don't think the protest is appropriate then people are quite right to not take part.
  • "Love they way some are happy to give out their opinions, but equally happy to leave it to others to do the dirty work...."

I was led to believe that members of the club read this forum so maybe this is a better way to air our views. Those who want to go to the car park and sing to the back of a stand and cars whizzing past whilst getting cold are welcome to it - but I dont consider them to be doing my dirty work..........
  • lol, thought that one would get a bite !!

On a serious note, the next possible point where there would realistically be a protest will be 3 weeks away. A lot can change in 3 weeks.
  • Bit harsh AFKA saying people are prepared to let others do their dirty work. If people want to do that sort of thing then it is up to them. Personally as I don't think it helps an already bad situation I would not take part. There is plenty of opportunity in the ground to let the people who count know your feelings and I must point out I have not sung pardew out or booed yet for the same reasons as I don't think it helps. You can also vote by your feet by going to the pub early which is my personal favourite. But it does not mean we don't care, just that we are alcoholic, I mean like to show our disapproval in other ways;

I'm going to report you to admin. Didn't you read the sticky about protocol on here? : - )

Yes in three weeks time a lot can change. 9 points, Zebeel come back in, move to Twickenham announced, Dowie back as manager.

Only the third would get me protesting outside the West Stand although the 4th would have me vomiting.

I love the way a campaign to lobby against pards and the club is generating almost more posts/fuel/interest than a thread to up the support and positive thinking for the club. perhaps if we'd put our efforts in before we got in this mess things could have been a bit different? i'm not saying it would have made a difference, but can everyone here honestly say hand on their heart that they've supported the club 100% positively in the last few months? ok, you bought a ticket, but boo'ing, and slagging them off on here hasn't perhaps helped the situation?

wss> I think you worded that incredibly badly. Who would not wish that pards does get it right this saturday we thump plymouth 4-0 as a result of the backlash and the fact that only 8 fans make it to plymouth (oohahhmortimer and his family) and then we whoop birmingham away ready for a home match against sheff wednesday and get ourselves midtable by december with a postive outlook. yes, it might not happen, but i would never wish for us to fail for a few more weeks to make the manager get the sack. I don't care who manages us, as long as we get better.

I think you will find that quite a number of people on here have not booed, and not spent their time slagging off the club. In fact, from what I can see, including my own comments, it is only since Saturday that the majority have decided finally to voice negative comments ... which of course they are entitled to do.
