He makes some generally good points about the psychology issues, confidence, etc.
And they are all valid points.

    But one thing he overlooked.

Harry has shaped the team to play to Benty's strengths.

Great man management to openly slag him off though, yes say it was bad but he really seemed to enjoy slating the lad. If the Russkie was not injured yesterday Bent may have soon become fourth choice again.

Couldn't give a flying one, my concern is Charlton, not him or spuds

Exactly, surely we have enough of our own misfiring strikers to worry about, rather than have a 30+ post thread on a Charlton forum on a spuds player, priorities and all that.

yes priorities and all that... but some of us still have a lot of affection for Darren, me included so like to see how he's getting on and chat about him.

not too well judging from yesterday. Hope he goes to Villa.

    again fair point Curb It.

Benty is a thoroughly decent lad and some of the stick he;s had at Tottenham is downright botox.

True but to be fair they're used to decent strikers over there. Even going back just a few years and off the top of my head i can think of Klinsmann, Ferdinand, Sheringham, Defoe, Keane and Berbatov so you can see why they don't rate Bent.
  • I think their fans should point the finger more at their under-performing Russian than at Benty.

I saw the Spuds up at Wigan on TV and Pavyluchenko (or however you bloody spell it) was absolutely bricking it every time the ball got played to him.

For some reason, apart from Kanchelskis at Utd (and he was Ukranian) none of the Russians have ever cracked it in England, they seem to find the physical side of the game overwhelming.

Always loved Benty, hated the fact that he went to Spuds, I knew they would mistreat and undervalue him and they have. Now its that left over spitting image puppet having a pop at him too. Better off out of it Darren!

I think Harry should loan us Bent back for a few months so he can regain form.

Spurs will of course pay for his wages during this time.

I think it would be a sure thing that Parky would play him along side Fortune, with Andy Gray being the long striker. ;-)

Since when have we started first team games with goalscoring forwards. Sorry Benty but you're destined for our stiffs alongside Dicko of course.

Pardky would put Benty on the bench in favour of Deon Burton.

redknapp is all about self-publicising. He loves being mates with the journalists and loves his reputation of loveable harry. he also loves the sound of his own voice.

That comment about 'my wife would have scored that' when Bent missed says it all for me. Benty is clearly low on confidence but redknapp's first priority is making the journos laugh and getting in the paper with his little joke.

when we appointed pards late on christmas eve, sky sports news couldnt get anyone involved with cafc on to talk about it because of the time. The only person happy to get on the phone to talk about it was .... 'arry.

can you tell i dont like him much?

One thing he doesn't like commenting on is "Next Manager" markets - especially where he's the prospective next manager.

Ha Ha - the Spuds losing 3-0 to Burnley and if it stays like that they're out. Serves him tight for slagging Benty off, leaving him out and playing Judas on his own up front.

    Judas? Oh grow up mate!

Defoe scored a very good goal to put the tie into perspective.

Chirpy - I was just not talking about us when I said Judas. Defoe just follows the money which is probably why he joined Redknapp (He of "I'm here to stay" fame) again. Not everyone's motivated by that and some of us like to see a bit of loyalty which is why I would never call Benty a Judas. I bet you Defoe's kissed his shirt at CAFC, West Ham, the Spuds (twice) and Portsmouth and every time taken in those gullible supporters. He's not even a decent footballer.

And the Spuds got lucky - end of.

On the subject of Redknapp I didn't hear any post match comments about how "My Mrs Sandra would have scored that" when Pavlova missed that sitter. Maybe she's not that good or perhaps he can't see any mileage or money in publicly shaming the Russian.

Why not pizz off to White Hart Lane then Mr W.....you'll not be missed.
DeFoe is a most unpleasant and thoroughly selfish individual and to many of us he WAS a classic example of a footballing Judas....a lot of folk invested in Valley Gold with the sole object of attracting and nurturing young players at the club....we treated him very well indeed and gave him the very best of what we had at the time but he (and his mother) showed us not a shred of thanks or loyalty for all that was done for him by scarpering at the first opportunity.Something he seems to do with alarming regularity I may add.
But then again you are such a know all and enjoy winding folk up almost every time you post (it's almost without fail the reason you post on here which I find very sad)...I frankly don't know why you bother...it's boring and thoroughly disrespectful of fellow Addicks!
And you have the front to tell Addick Addict to grow up......FFS!!

I wondered what arry had said, they were talking about it on 606. I dont think benty will mind too much, I think he'll take it with the pinch of salt it was intended. It might even be arrys way of motivating him
