  • and yeah, I'll also say Viva la Vida should be in there, probably in the low 30's, but in the list anyway.

Maybe a bit of life in technicolor wouldn't go a miss at the Valley
  • [cite]Posted By: stubs1310[/cite]the debut album by Late Of The Pier called 'Fantasty Black Channel'.

    Have to agree with this
  • Jesus Christ I am out of touch with music.

Is that a real list or a random collection of words??

Is Jive Bunny not classed as cutting edge any more?
  • Shame Mark Kozelek ' April' isnt on the list, Shearwaters ' rook' is good, also enjoyin ray le montagnes new one as a good drivin cd . Katherine Williams ' Two' was very underated . Enjoyin Rachel Unthank and the winter set as I type.
  • Oh grow up!
  • No Angles?
    No In Silico?
    No Intimacy?

    Pah! Clearly clueless!
  • Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians - Luminous Groove.
Foxboro Hut Tubs - Stop, Drop and Roll
    Black Crowes - War Paint

Anybody else think that Weller's 22 Dreams sounds like "I had too much to dream last night" by the Electric Prunes (stubs1310 may have it by The Damned/Nazz Nomad)?
  • surprised that that list does not included the excellent "Songs in A&E" by Spiritualized.
Or Noah and The Whale' s album.
  • I thought the vampire weekend album was pretty awful , how did it get to No 5 ?

Can't say I've heard of many of your top 50 Mr Irving!

    My top ten this year:

    1. Judas Priest - Nostradamus
    2. Stone Gods - Silver Spoons And Broken Bones
    3. Motorhead - Motorizer
    4. Airbourne - Running Wild
    5. Disturbed - Indestructible
    6. Death Magnetic - Metallica
    7. AC/DC - Black Ice
    8. Whitesnake - Good to be Bad

    10. Various Artists - We Wish You a Very Metal Christmas & a Headbanging New Year; highlights including Ronnie James Dio on 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen' and Alice Cooper on 'Santa Claus is Coming To Town'

Best gig was Airbourne + Stone Gods at the Astoria. So annoyed they're pulling it down, its got the best PA in town. Next best was Motorhead + Saxon at Hammersmith Odeon - which has one of the worst PA's in town!

  • I love the Uncut & Mojo top 50's - a favourite Yuletide passtime, going through then & checking out the one's i haven't heard - I don't think this year has been very good musicwise for me, as evidenced that I would normally have bought 75% of the Uncut top 50 - this year I have just the ones mentioned below!

46 Pete Greenwood - Sirens (probably my favourite of the year)
41 James Yorkston - When The Haar Rolls In (in my top 3)
23 Black Mountain - In The Future (not as good as their debut)
21 Howlin Rain - Magnificent Fiend (in my top 3)
4 Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago (I like this one a lot)
2 Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes (OK I suppose, wouldn't make my top 10)

There are a lot that I like missing - Calexico, Spiritualised, Eilen Jewell - I think this year has been great for reissues, with some amazing stuff re-released...maybe I'm just getting older?
  • BTW, I listened to the Kings of Leon album on the plane to Cologne, and boy, what a load of old toss, really overrated for me
  • [cite]Posted By: Rothko[/cite]BTW, I listened to the Kings of Leon album on the plane to Cologne, and boy, what a load of old toss, really overrated for me

I listened to it when in Ireland. very self indulgent. I think if you're a dedicated fan you'd love it, but as someone with none of their albums, I wouldn't buy this one as a first attempt of being a KoL fan.
  • I think KOL have slowly got worse with each album (well maybe you could switch the last 2) Their best is Youth and Young Manhood by a long way.
  • KOL is the sort of music I would normally like, but I agree with blackheathaddick - they have done some decent singles, first album is okay but imho their new stuff is dross.

  • There's been too much pretentious hairy nonsense around this year - thought the Fleet Foxes album was awful. Vampire Weekend are great fun live, didn't buy into the album so much. MGMT are two song ponies who were terrible when I saw them live. The Portishead album was okay, but couldn't ever live up to the stonking hype.

My album of the year is probably O by Tilly and the Wall.
  • Listening to TV on the Radio and Ladyhawke on the way in this morning. TOTR I don't mind, Ladyhawke is f**king ace
  • Have been listening to the Fleet Foxes and struggling to get into it. Sounds a bit too much like Genesis and not enough like CSNY

Bon Iver I like but the Streets is growing on me, especially The edge of the Cliff and Heaven for the Weather.
  • get the Ladyhawke album, quality stuff
  • Discuss

45 The Fall - Imperial Wax Solvent Hubby would agree but would probably put it higher

29 Robert Foster - The Evangelist Again higher - did you see him at RFH?

22 The Raconteurs - Consolers of The Lonely Higher - Jack White a Genius - discuss?

10 Paul Weller - 22 Dreams Great album another genius

8 Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Dig!!! Lazarus, Dig!!! Brilliant
  • Kimbo, concentrate on the game.

If we've got to suffer, then you must too !

    ;o)
  • i am listening with a tissue in one hand and a hot lemon in the other
    too depressing!
  • I've changed my mind on the album of the year, and it's now Ladyhawke - Ladyhawke. What a storming album
  • Ladyhawke album is OK
  • What's the Metronomy album like Curbey?
