I find the whole Newcastle, religion-like, more than football, greatest supported club (in an area with only one club) thing pretty naff TBH

Only one for me: MK Dons.

The others are legitimate even if one dislikes them.

I think this thread is fast becoming 'places in Britain who aren't 'proper' football towns' (Newcastle aside, ironically!) which probably sums it up

    Rochdale.

Haven't moved leagues in a stupid amount of time.

Great fans though when you consider that fact.

I wonder how many we'd get after 35 years of 4th division football?

At least they had a trip to Wembley last season even though they lost.

Regarding your Port vale and tranmere thing that could apply to any number of teams. If you live in north london why support Barnet? Or in east london, why Dagenham? Why support Notts County when theres Forest? With west brom and wolves, why support Walsall? With all the clubs in lancashire, why choose Stockport?
And in Barcelona why would you ever support Espanyol.

I've got a very good friend who is a Port Vale fan, moved down this way 20+ years ago to Erith, attends a lot of Charlton games, and he was one of our free coaches to Vale a few years back with us, 2 of his 3 kids are Charlton fans now.

But Port Vale doesn't exist as a place: they should be Burslem Academicals or something.

Have to disagree with you there Nolly. The only history Millwall have is of providing Police 5 and Crimewatch with plenty of material over the years and they don't even do that now. Other than that, they've never won anything and spent most of their "history" in the second tier and below being watched by meagre crowds. Take away their hooligan reputation and they're no more significant than the likes of Swindon, Walsall and Stockport

Because their fans are a decent bunch, and Stoke's fans are 'orrible...

Liverpool are very naff, the biggest following of glory hunters in the UK bar none (not even MUFC).

My mate a work is a Stoke fan, he's a nice fella. Maybe I'm being influenced here? Stoke is a small city, population of well under 1million. I just can't understand why such a small city has two football clubs, seems odd that's all. As for Tranmere, most of their fans tend to be Everton or Liverpool fans who can't afford to go there. There are very few exclusively Tranmere supporters.

Alot of folk here don't seem to have much time for Spurs. Why?
