It was our friend Dennis Wise in the same role who provoked Keegan to quit in frustration. It seems that Directors of Football often cause more trouble than they're worth.
Maybe that's the plan? Frustrate Pardew so that he quits and they don't have to pay him off.
Can't believe what Ive just heard. He's just interviewed with talksport, appalling lack of respect. Called Yohan Cabaye 'Yohan Kebab' made claims he signed players when he didn't, mental
Magpie chiefs faced a backlash as the Toon Army threatened to boycott their season tickets over the return of Joe Kinnear.
Hundreds of fans have lashed out at Mike Ashley’s decision to appoint the ex-Wimbledon boss as Director of Football.
And irate supporters even said they were on the verge of cancelling their seats at St James’ Park. But while the Newcastle fans vented their fury, others called on supporters to back the club.
Ex-Toon owner Freddy Shepherd said: “I’m sure he’ll make a success of it. I hope it works out and I wish him all the best.
“I had dealings with Joe when he was at Wimbledon when we were buying a player and that’s the only time I’ve come across him. He seems a sensible sort of guy and I hope he can make a success of it.”
Kinnear’s last piece of action with the Tyneside club came in February 2009 when he suffered a heart attack during the club’s relegation season.
He staged high-level negotiations last week and it is understood Ashley met the 66-year-old in the Orange Tree pub in Totteridge, Barnet, in North London, close to the Sports Direct tycoon’s home.
When the Chronicle contacted the pub a duty manager said he “would not be able to make comments about guests and visitors”. But the same pub was the focus of a row during the 2009 season when Kinnear launched into a foul-mouthed tirade at journalists.
Chi Onwurah, Newcastle MP and Newcastle fan, said: “It does seem that Ashley moves in ways more mysterious than the Almighty.
“If he is trying to get rid of Pardew why give him an eight-year contract in the first place? But the most important thing is that Kinnear and Pardew find some way of working together.” Jim Maxwell, from Murton, County Durham, logged on to the Chronicle website to write: “At the moment I am on the verge of cancelling my season ticket.”
“Mr Ashley does not seem to learn from previous mistakes. What next: returns for Dennis Wise and Xisco?”
Mick Collins @MickPCollins Just tweeted: Joe Kinnear, loan shark on the shirt, Mike Ashley and Alan Pardew. Pitch that as a sitcom and you'd be asked to tone it down. Sounds about right!
Won't last |Joe Kinnear is truely off his head would have loved to have seen him go to Sunderland in the same role you could have sold tickets for the ensuing war!
What are the odds on Newcastle getting relegated this season? I can't see that he's going to have the respect of the playing squad after that interview. Knowing football and footballers he's just made a heap of problems for himself.
Comments
He is the manager he picks the team not Alan is the manager i am here to help him and movevthe club forward
Its all set out to remove pardont 100 % certain
Yes Joe, it is.
Forest 2004-05 - 4 wins in 23 games, resigned in December with them sitting 23rd in the championship. Forest relegated at end of season.
Newcastle 08-09 - 5 wins in 26 games before heart op. Newcastle relegated at end of season.
Keep up Joe, you were manager of the Luton side in 2000-01 that were relegated from league one.
He also claimed to be (I think) the manager of the year 3 times, when it was only once.
TBF I think him & Parpoo are a match made in heaven. 2 complete ***** :-)
Says he signed Tim Krul. Krul joined in 2005, Kinnear wasn't there til 2008!!
"I've never been sacked in my life" - sacked by Luton
"I played over 400 games for Spurs" - it was less than 200.
"i was manager of the year 3 times" - It was once.
Pure comedy, it either doesn't occur to him that people can easily check the facts, or he genuinely believes it!

Wow at least get my name right
"he's a sensible sort of guy" Freddie Shepherd. Yes Freddie, by your standards he is.
Schadenfreude. Sometimes it is just delicious...
I think he has lost his marbles
