  • another player who might have had decent ability and we managed to coach/knock out any ability he had.....
i mean who was the last player to come to us and improve
we certainly know how to ruin careers
  • probably the best crosser of the ball we have had since Reidy left - better than Sam., thomas, Bouazza and Gilliespie. We should have played him in a 3 man attack and let him drift wide right and wide left at will.

I'll never forget the cross he put in for big Chris last season at St mary's for our last minute winner - down the line , beating the full back for pace and slung a cross over ON THE RUN for big Chris to powr in.

Ever seen Lloyd Sam do that....No NEVER.

Don't usually agree with you morts my friend BUT TOO BLOODY RIGHT. There's obviously something painfully wrong with the setup at our club that this seems to be happening willy nilly. Seems like we could coach it out of Kaka at the moment. Else our fans would be taking the confidence out of him by screaming because he doesn't tackle back, or, if he played on the wing, of course he wouldn't have any "end product".

Look at youga when he was on loan at scunny came back a better player but slowly lost it again!
  • Scoham - I make you spot on this thread.

Varney was a second striker in 4-4-2.

could have been our Beardsley to Lineker, Sherinham to Shearer if you like

he was bang on for 10-12 goals a season, plus plenty of assists and workrate for the team

then the clown Pardew announced to the world he was his main man so VArney thought he had to score a goal a game and lost his head anytime he got into the penalty box

a real shame as he has the potential to be a very good footballer (unlike say McCleod for instance)

I'd bought a load of autobiogs in a charity shop, written by football players, when someone had obviously had a clear out. Pretty dire they are too, but one thing that strikes me is the number of times players talk about confidence, wanting to play for each other, being encouraged to keep calm and focussed, having the fans behind you, building on a players strengths rather than concentrating on weaknesses, wanting to put in extra training, being allowed to make mistakes, being encouraged through bad spells and team respect for the manager and coach. These are the main points that emerge time and time again. Andy Gray said that once team spirit is lost, then there is a downward spiral which is very hard to turn around. You can buy a club, you can buy the players but team spirit is something you have to build. We really seem to have made all the mistakes that it is possible to make.
  • [cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]I don't know about having a drink with De Foe, but you can have a drink with me when I come up for the Preston game.
    Lib?

    ;o)

Look forward to it. In the Lib as always so see you there.

    Well said, StillAddicted.

A player's footballing ability is only a part of what's needed to make a competent player.

Which is why I go banging on about composure, belief and what goes on inside a player's head

    lol

Might even come up and boo you when you play.

Then again why watch two crap Charlton teams on the same day ; - )

BTW the preston fans were on Soccer AM with their WWW World Cup.

They were useless at the kick the ball at the target game. They only got 2 so you'll beat them no trouble.
  • We don't really do 'the kick the ball at the target game' either, Henry -
but we're actually quite good at 'the kick the ball anywhere but the target game'.

We draw our inspiration from watching the CAFC 1st team.

    ;o)
