  • Khan has learnt lessons and learnt them well, i still dont like him however i do rate him now on that performance.

I do however believe that the Cut was a major influence on the fight, i am not sure that it wouldve changed the outcome overall but there is no way that you can have such a huge cut lose so much blood and still fight to your original game plan.

Well done to Khan and good luck, his Jaw is still very suspect and if anyone thinks it isnt then you are wrong i am afraid, the best thing about Khan last night is taht he has realised it himself so he covered up well, best thing to do if you cant take a geniune punch is dont let it hit you and that is what he did
  • Just got back from Manchester and it was a great atmosphere...couldn't understand why so many were booing Amir Khan tho. It was a good fight and I think he's proved a few people wrong...
  • [cite]Posted By: Leroy Ambrose[/cite]This forum is absolutely pathetic. No wonder people turn up here, see people digging other posters out like children and piss of somewhere else toot sweet.

FWIW, I know quite a bit about boxing - and I thought Barrera would win. Obviously his career's on the slide, and Khan fought well - but that cut had a hell of a lot to do with the outcome tonight, and one swallow does not a summer make. Khan is still an above-average fighter, but nothing more than that.

Gonna start taking the piss out of me too?
I think to be fair Lenny, it was the way the first post on this thread was phrased that invited the reaction.

I don't see anything in that first post which warrants an attack on someone. Khan HAS got a glass chin. End of story. The digs were from two people who obviously have some sort of philosophical disagreement with the OP's views. That's why I made the point - it's childish and pathetic.

[cite]Posted By: buckshee[/cite]got to agree with morts mate , you don't know enough about boxing to make such a statement but if chirpy thinks getting personal is the right thing to do then he's just shown himself up to be the pratt he is

    ???? Personal?

    I think you mean Mortimerician.

no , I meant you and you know full well what I'm talking about . I actually saw the comment before you edited it.
  • I'll eat my words, Khan looked really good and positive. Felt really sorry for Nicky Cook but like Morterman says until you have seen tweety birds on your way to the deck it is not as easy as just getting up!!
  • Naseem was an excellent fighter, did not duck anybody. Cocky as you like but I would always pay to se him box.

Very debatable. With the exception of maybe Vazquez, the 'prince' twinkle toed his way around any real quality opposition, untill he met Barerra.
  • Lol

    Busted Chirpy
  • I think he fought and beat some quality boxers did Hamed. Keven Kelley, Johnson, Vasquez, he had fought all these when he was still very young too.

Barrera outclassed him, however it's worth remembering he dumped Brendan Ingle just before that fight and was being trained by Manny Steward who made him box a totally new and alien way which isn't what got him a fight against Barrera. He didn't duck Barrera though did he?

I totally agree with Carly, he was a prime ducker and I think Barera was actually a duck gone wrong, though he did take a couple of decent fights earlier - people forget Kelly who could bang a bit. He didn't see Barera as a threat at the time tbf. He was too busy fudding around with his fat know-nothing brothers brothers. Have you seen the docu where he's virtually in tears because Richard Gere has a bigger suite than him? Barera was busy up a mountain working out with hard cases and the heavy bag while he's playing Hollywood. This time, Barera couldn't fit his entourage into a single coach and had a line of taxis spilling down the road. That, mon amigo, was a big old signpost. I love the total lack of understanding of the sport because it means money for me off shagwits on betfair. Long may it continue.

Lenny - I'd defend my comments. I have respect for Khan. He's gone in with Kindelin and Barera. Claiming he's glass jawed is looking at a couple of isolated incidents where I think the best would have been stopped. I hope he keeps taking decent fights, but for now it disgusts me that people that know very little about the sport have a pop at fighters who take proper fights and lose the odd one. That is why we have a country in which boxers are encouraged to build up unbeaten records against utter shit. All the greats have lost a few (Rocky excepted).

For me if folk don't know anything about a sport they're more than free to enjoy it, but they shouldn't start discussions as if they're fight experts in such a confidently aggressive manner. Having done that, if I choose to slag them off, and draw attention to their ignorance don't act like it's the end of the internet.
