Away fans are mostly located at one end of the ground in the Dreams Stand, where just over 2,000 supporters can be accommodated. For teams with a larger following than 350 seats are also made available in the Main Stand, increasing the total allocation to 2,350.
Att: 6,139 (1,638).
Stevenage
Away fans visiting the Lamex Stadium are located in the South Stand, with a typical allocation of around 1,400 though this can be increased to around 2,000 if part of the Main Stand is used.
And obviously our home numbers are abysmal and not the bullshit that’s put out there and you have to take away fans off that to get a true home number before you can then get a true percentage so if we could just shrink our home numbers appropriately we’ll be flying up that table
We buy season tickets in a burst of summer optimism. Then we see a crap team at home and decide not to bother going to watch after a few games, but attendance figure doesn't reflect the no shows. Why fork out fortnightly to watch the same piss poor team away when you can barely be arsed to watch them at the Valley.
dont get the population metric. why not use number of other clubs with 10 miles as a metric for showing how much competition the club has to attract fans
I like visiting different away grounds although most league 1 are crap for pubs before hand etc as they aren’t used to big away followings, for me personally most of the grounds I’ve visited in recent years I wouldn’t go back so that eliminates some
Went away to WBA, couple of years ago. We score, one of our supporters thinks, "i know what i will do to celebrate, i'll lob a bottle in the WBA fans", then a half time another couple decide to have a punch up with the Police. Now when we leave instead of being able to go into Birmingham and have meal and a drink, we are herded onto a train down to Marylebone to wait while we have to give our names to BTP.
Didn't travel after that until Sunderland and the 1-0 win, even now we have the usual coked up herberts who don't know where the line is. Perhaps thats why some don't travel.
On the above I managed to go back to brum new street after the game and had a few pints in the spoons and got the train back at my allotted time. The punch up at ht was due to very ott policing by the West Midlands police which they are known for being a tad heavy handed.
Said it before the more fans you have going the higher rate of active lads or knobheads when they have had a drink.
United will be similar it’s an early start for most 6/7 hours on the beers, a lot of non regular away goers and people play up

Our away support is better now than it was. Generally a good atmosphere. The drummer adds to that. Imo our away support has been good for a few seasons now. Been to a few this year. Fleetwood, Barnsley, Shrewsbury, Lincoln. Fleetwood was a bit sparse (understandable) but the others were all pretty good as far as I can remember. Often quite feisty which I like.

If that's the case how comes we will be taking 5000+ to united? And I should think that game will be worse as some will be on it all day.

I managed to escape at New Street, helped by not looking like a football fan... I'd been in a hotel the night before, so needed to get my bag anyway!
It's a mystery, people on the piss all day before a game, and you get more trouble...

The numbers aren't great though, especially for the nearer games like Wycombe and Oxford.
Of course both suffer for not being that near or that attractive, when compared to London clubs or indeed Pompey.

So 10% go away, putting us mid table.
Excellent away support for us.
Fleetwood bringing 200 to us is relative to us taking 1000 there.
Our away following exploded at Portsmouth in Bowyer's first? game, since then it has been very good.
Prior to this for MANY seasons it was shocking.
We are 18th in league one with all the on-going drama.
We took over 900 to Oxford midweek during Christmas period.
Over 1,200 to Portsmouth on new years day.
We sold out Stevenage and Wycombe. We also took a healthy following to Burton and Sheffield Wednesday
There's probably more that I just can't think of at the top of my head.
Considering realistically our average home attendance has been roughly 7-9k that's a pretty good return.
average miles per game come in to it and also clubs like Wednesday would have sold out a lot and taken more if possible
plymouth have more fans than us in London and all northern towns for their short trips !
On a par with cambridge and below big clubs like Oxford
yes our numbers are better in recent times, all things considered, for us but they’re still not off the wrist stuff for me
so if we could just shrink our home numbers appropriately we’ll be flying up that table
Also, it's easier to spot trains when you stay at the station.
