Actually that isn't strictly true......started to watch it at the open air cinema at Glastonbury circa 1992........a strange man sold me a piece of paper with a purple dot on it beforehand and the rest as they say is history.

Red Dwarf was, of course, a space mining ship. Now we have a bunch of american billionaires who reckon they will be mining asteroids soon. Life imitating fiction, I guess.
