Anyone seen the Kent players in this years world 20twenty world cup for England.
    Rob Key
    Joe Denly
And the number of Surrey players 0
  • Off topic for this thread but Manny Ramirez takes up cricket:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/mlb/03/18/manny.cricket.ap/index.html

    Some great lines in there:

"..the bat wielded by Ramirez on Wednesday had an elongated handle and was flat, like a paddle."

"...Ramirez swung and missed at his first pitch, then lined the second one past the bowler's ear as yellow-jerseyed members of the Arizona Cricket Club chased down the ball.

On the third delivery, Ramirez let the ball hit the wicket, which would have been an out in an actual game.

"That's an out?" Ramirez said. "Give me one more chance."

"Ramirez expressed admiration for Marsh and the skills of cricketers, although he cringed when told that some at-bats can span nine hours.

    "That's too long," Ramirez said.

Asked to recall his longest at-bat, Ramirez said, "Maybe 10 pitches."
  • [cite]Posted By: Leroy Ambrose[/cite]Sorry - I grew up in Deptford. The Oval was a bit closer to me than f***ing Canterbury. Stupid ground with a bloody tree in the middle of it.

I've got no affinity with Kunt - Surrey rule
When I grew up, in Kidbrooke, Kent played at the Rectory Field just along the road from The Valley. Closer than the Oval :)
  • Stubley how many kent players have played for england in the last 10 years compared to Surrey?

They are in the initial 30 man squad wont be in the 15 tho will they?
  • Well Key is going to be the captain so I should think there's a fair chance he'll be in the 15!!!!
  • If Key and Denly do make the final 15 and are away with England for the duration of the world cup 20-20, Kent are going to have a really tough time of it.

We have no back-up openers at all and will have to open the batting with Sam Northeast and ... really no idea who else. Hockley? Jones? That's scary!
  • I am really pleased to see Hockley back playing for Kent.
  • All true Addicks support Yorkshire CCC. Fact.
  • Just off for day 2;

    Why Low-Ears ?
  • Sorry;
    Close of play yesterday:

    Kent 131-3 off 40.

  • Father is a Yorkshireman - he says what he likes and he likes what he says. No affinity with Kent despite being brought up in Welling and Sidcup. He has a picture in his living room of "the four greatest living yorkshiremen". Anyone guess the four (one of them is dead now though).
  • Palin,Chapman,Idle & Jones ?
  • [cite]Posted By: miserableold-ish git[/cite]Palin,Chapman,Idle & Jones ?

No not that lot - this is the real four with a cricket theme.
  • Truman, Bird,Illingworth and Close ?
  • key wont be captain, they will go for flintoff or collingwood.

to be fair i would like to ssee Key get it but just dont think he will
  • Was "quietly" confident when talking to "Shagger" Thorpe,Adams and Butcher yesterday Carl.
Think they'd all rather him than anyone else.
  • [cite]Posted By: miserableold-ish git[/cite]Truman, Bird,Illingworth and Close ?

Almost but you have missed out Sir Geoffrey (not Bird). Mrs Low_Ears has already told me that she will leave if I ever end up putting that picture up in our house. Shame, I'll miss her.
  • Four greatest Yorkshiremen?

Captain Cook, Fred Truman, Genghis Khan and Compo off of last of the summer wine?

    Long live the North Riding!

    Long live Geoffrey Boycott!
