  • I've just been confirmed with swine flu. I must admit I've never felt so ill before.

At least I'll be able to watch the Ashes if the bad weather forecast holds out.

Get off the site. I don't want it!
  • My daughter contracted it at school 3 girl's in her class had it the school didnt even send out letter's.Doctor didnt want her in the surgery diagnosed it over the phone!! no tamiflu just ibuprofen..She was up and about after 3 day's thankfully.
  • From what i know, it seems like anyone with the slightest hint of a cough or cold is being told it's swine flu. A bloke at my sisters work was fine in work, but that night got a bit of a cold, next day he's signed off for a week with swine flu. It seems like doctors don't want to take the risk of telling someone to go home and drink a lemsip, only for them to die of swine flu a few days later.
  • I think most of the stuff in the media is just hog wash (ho ho) but if they are right and 65,000 could die they tell you not to panic ! so when should you then ?

In a bad year 11,000 die of "normal flu"------------this looks like being a "bad year" so at least that number might die.

29 dead so far but over 40 people die each year in car chases involving the Police !

Think that's spot on as i'm currently on Tamiflu and i really think it's just a lesser virus.

Please see my earlier post. This is procedure under the 'treatment' phase of a pandemic. Testing is no longer taking place so anyone with symptoms is treated as if they have swine flu.

Sorry, I'm not critizicing, but, normal flu leaves you as weak as a kitten, and all you want to do is sleep.......
Can't even open your eyes without it hurting.........
  • As for Tamiflu, it's not some miracle drug that the media are having us believe. It will aid your recovery yes but, if you're ill for 7 days, they reckon tamiflu will see you recover in 6 days... it will not do anything for lowering your temperature, so you'll still need to take paracetamol etc...

Just seen that Cherie Blair has swine flu. So we know it travels from pigs to humans to dogs now.

I am just in the early stages of recovering from this horrible virus, and trust me its horrible. Laid up since last saturday and a stone lighter, I got up this morning for the first time, so the wife can fumigate the bedroom.
I was only perscribed Tamiflu yesterday, apparently they wait 5 days to see if its definately Swine flu and not just a heavy cold, maybe its just because my fitness levels are so high I recovered so quickly.

And apparently the later recovery stages of the Virus are called "Gammon Flu" cos your cured! ;)
And Dave Storry, Oink Oink is hardly a sympathetic text message when I'm so ill :)
Anymore that can be added to this can we get them out the way now.
  • Due to have my anti swine flu jab on Dec 9th, not that happy that I've had to wait so long to be honest........I would be very worried if I contracted this virus.
  • Does the jab prevent or just ease the suffering SoundAs ?
  • Well its a bit late for that, and as my GP has a exclusion zone around his surgery I best wait a while a then see if I can get one.
    cheers SoundAs
  • you lost a stone and you are complaining?

    Hope u r feeling better.

Lady irving had her jab this week. Her arm is killing her.

I take it Private physician visited Irving Mansions?
Unlike Mrs TCE who had to describe my symptoms to some call centre, based god knows where who slotted us in between selling double glazing and mobile phone conracts.
Its how I know I'm getting better, I start moaning ;)
  • I suspect his Mrs had it done at work TCE.

  • Felt well enough to go to see Jools Holland last night but am I paying for it today, totally exhausted I have never felt so ill in my life. This time yesterday I thought I was over it, today I couldn't catch Dazzler in a race to the bar :(
If a jab stops you catching it trust me its worth a sore arm.
