Not sure if it still. Contains it but atheletes used to take a product called up your gas which was banned over here but available in the states in GNC . It is like legal speed . Not that I ever took it of course
[cite]Posted By: nth london addick[/cite]feel a bit sorry for him tbf
they have cleared him of any intentional drug taking and i think that for that reason the ban is too long
Rules are rules and sadly there are too many drug cheats in sport for the authorities to be seen to be letting someone off lightly. A newish FA directive is that all footballers must call in if they are unable to make training on any particular day - even if they get involved in a car accident/puncture on the way in. If the dope testers decide to choose that day to visit the club then it counts as one of your three strikes.
[cite]Posted By: Ledge[/cite]what pisses me off the most is they have accepted he didn't do it to cheat and yet give him 9 months.
Roman Bednar gets done for buying the filth that is cocaine and gets 3 months. Where the fucking logic.
Kenny has even been banned fron TRAINING with Sheff Utd - draconian IMO.
I agree he deserves to be punished he broke the rules but I think this is over the top
I disagree.
He knew - or should have known - the rules. They are quite clear and, even if they need navigating, I am sure his club can provide him with legal guidance and can certainly offer appropriate advice. In addition, he can afford his own advice.
Footballers understand that they have a duty of care to themselves. They know they need to look after their medical condition. They know they have to train and they know they have to avoid over-training. They need a perfect combination of fitness training, skills training and rest. I comes as part and parcel of their vocation. They also know they must not take drugs which are regarded as proscribed on the offical list.
I know what I am not allowed to do as part of my contract of work (I'm not allowed to tell other companies about my comapny's secrets, for example). Footballers also have their own restrictions. This footballer is either to stupid to think he would get caught or too stupid to realise what he was doing is wrong.
In my opnion he cheated (his drugs can cause a material physical difference in the body: this is clearly performance enhancing). Depsite all the warnings he would have received, despite all the advice he would have received, despite the facy that his actions put his fabulous lifestyle at risk, he went ahead. Tough.
If I gave away my company's secrets, I wouldn't be facing a nine-month ban.
and it meant they would miss the world cup over a bottle of cough mixture do you think the ban would have been suspended or would they have been banned.
i am not trying to say kenny has been treated or would be treated diffrently to those just wondering if the fa stance would have been the same

Rio Ferdinand was banned for a similar amount of time after forgetting to attend a test, which I think he subsequently took and passed.
And Shane Warne was given a one year ban for taking a diuretic - supposedly to lose weight before a media appearance, but that was listed as a masking agent.
Anyway the first time I've ever heard of a sportsman being banned for taking the piss out of himself.

The retaken test was not completed until another 48 hours had passed.
