There are probably quite a few people who don't get the chance they deserve, or at least think they deserve. And others who get chance after chance. I think a successful manager has to think they are a great manager so at least he has that.
I went to a lunch where Sol Campbell and Michael Owen were talking about their careers. Campbell actually did a great job of being more boring than Michael Owen and that’s a very high bar!
he’s an utter nob and his social media rantings just reinforce that for me
The longer he doesn't get any offers and the more jobs they give to Granny Smasher Scouse Shrek, the more he has a point.
Still a deluded, self-absorbed onanist mind you.
That advert is great
Yeah he's an arse hole but he's an arsehole who is not exactly wrong (about this specific thing at least.)
Although it's more a case that while Rooney really shouldn't have had so many managers jobs, that's not the same thing as saying that Sol SHOULD.
But he is wrong. He thinks people aren't giving him jobs compared to others with similar careers because he's black, I'd suggest that they aren't giving him jobs compared to others with similar careers because of his personality.
One thing about Rooney, for example - all the people at his clubs seemed to like him, even when sacling him the reports out of Plymouth were complimentary of him as a person.
Sol seems to have a inferiority complex that makes zero sense as we are talking about one of the best defenders in Premier League history, its truly baffling that someone who has achieved so much questions why the fans of a club he was captain off feel a strong dislike for him after he left them for their arch-rivals.
Sol Campbell apparently claimed today the Spurs fans hate him because of his colour.....
I think he may have misread the situation and I would be very surprised if his latest advert does him any favours
I am sure Sol has experienced plenty of racism and unconscious bias in his life, as any black person will have. But his problem seems to be that he seems to think it affects absolutely everything that happens to him
Great player. And rightly recognised as such throughout his playing career.
Seemingly a very strange bloke off the pitch.
Why hasn't he been handed top level managerial jobs, like your Lampard's, Rooney's, etc? Maybe they just interview better and don't come across as "a bit weird"?

I agree with this. Always though he was a better footballer than Terry or Ferdinand. As a manager he did pretty well at Macclesfield in the circumstances, I’ve no memory of how he did at Southend. He is certainly a weird bloke and while you must need quite a bit of self confidence to make it as a player and even more so as a manager I can imagine that in his case it could come across negatively in an interview. I think that one of his grumbles is that he rarely gets as far as an interview which does seem strange.

He backed an HMRC petition to wind up Macclesfield after leaving, and he got relegated with Southend.
I can see why he's not high up people's lists, even before you consider his personality.

Then he does that.
He has now opened one hell of a can of worms.
On the managerial front, seeing players like Rooney picking up decent jobs despite being a serial failure...
Still a deluded, self-absorbed onanist mind you.

The phone contract?
Even the biggest idiot in football gets it.
If its about colour, ask any Spurs fan how they feel about Ledley King.
I'm saying no more now.
