Think this worked! T`his was my total baby, limited edition with the green half leather interior and green carpets, power steering, and amazing suction sunroof!! Was a brilliant motor, mental too, i gave mine to sanspeed and the made it
170 bhp with full stainless exhaust and manifold, uprated cams, polished head, chip, filter and some wierd power boost valve thingy, the thing was mental but always reliable, took it to Santa pod and it ran a 15.2sec which i was over the moon with really good time that!! Sold it for more than i bought it for after owning for 3 years, and only to buy a brand spanking new Mini Cooper S (Hence really gay user name here lol) which was also a cracking motor.
Ah the memories!! I know there are some other 1.9 owners here (charlton dan i am sure) but they make me purr everytime i see a mint one.
My mate used to have one of those. I was in awe of it as I wasn't old enough to drive and he was 6 or 7 years older than me.
When he changed gear fire actually used to come out of the exhaust, I used to dream of owning that car!
[cite]Posted By: bibble[/cite]Ive got mine...I love Military Vehicles, The old Land Rovers, Willys Jeeps etc. Got a Series 3 Land Rover Lightweight a year ago, its nearly 40 years old, I have all the military history, they use to chuck 'em out of planes on parachutes, mine was with the British Airborne Div. I've completely renovated it and we drove it to Normandy for the 65 year D Day celebration. Its sad but I can just sit and look at it...I call it 'Moto Lust'.
Thanks for the advice DaveM, sounds like it could have been messed about with, like so many! Restoring place not far away (Gatwick) got done recently by Trading Standards for trying to sell motors (Midgets, Spitfires etc) as 'originals' when in fact they were nothing of the sort: just bitsers.
Just to make you all feel old my first car was a 1998 R Reg Peugeot 106 1.1 Zest 2
Heap of crap my brother got as a write off but we rebuilt it until it was mechanically sound and passed it's mot managed to get 4000 miles from it after spending £800 on repairs before i gave up putting money in, sold it for £35 when the gearbox linkage snapped and i doubted it'd go through its next MOT
Bought a Fiat Punto 1.2active aug 03 model after that
hillman imp, bloke saw me coming, engine blew up within a week.
'62 vauxhall cresta ( the car was used in the specials " ghost town " video
ford consul capri
vauxhall crest "hydramatic " an early automatic and a speedo that changed colour the faster you went. the only british car, in my opinion that replicated our american cousins, classic cars of the '60's with tail fins and bench seats.
volkswagon beetle, bloody awful car, back wheel actually flew off when driving and narrowly missed decapitating a pedestrian.
rover p5 coupe, nice car but juicy. needed your own personal petrol tanker to follow you around, it used so much.
citroen bx19 gti, lovely car, very fast and had citroens trademark hydrolic suspension, the car lowered to the ground when stopped.
citroen cx prestige, same hydrolics as above. shaped like a bullet, absolutely stunning car.
and finally, paid to have a, volvo p1800 ( anybody remember " the saint " ) restored, another bloody nightmare but a beautiful car.
My first was an Opal manta loved that car only cost me £100 off a mate.Great motor only had it a few months could not aford to get it through MOt. Sold the wheels for £180 and got £30 off the local scrap yard. Must be the only car i have ever made any money out of.
First car was a mk1 escort estate, written off after an argument with a wall
Then had a vauxhall viva HA which was a restoration project. Followed by....
Triumph 2000tc (saloon version of the Stag)
Ford cortina mk4
Mazda 626
Austin Montego (biggest heap of junk I've ever driven)
Citroen BX
Citroen BX Estate
Jaguar Soveriegn (British racing green, beautiful:) )
First car I drove was a 1966 Ford Cortina. First car I part owned was a 1971 Volkswagen Fastback which 4 of us bought between us. Since then I've had two escorts, a Skoda, 3 more escorts and 3 Ford Focuses which brings us to the present day.
