Like I said twice - it doesn’t make it right. BUT considering what it was like back then it seems odd to imagine someone thinking of a career in glamour modelling would be that naiveThe Red Robin said:
It’s alleged he locked them in a room and forced them to have sex. That’s not sleeping your way to the top, it’s rape.Arsenetatters said:I’m not saying this makes it right in any way, shape or form but, as a female, I find it hard to believe that woman going into the glamour model industry didn’t know this sort of thing went on. There was plenty of it in the bloody civil service at that time! ‘Sleeping your way to the top’.Like I say, it doesn’t make it right, but I think there was a level of choice to be made before going for a job like that. And for those under 16, as has already been said, where were their parents in this?0 -
That wasn't alleged in the programme was it? Genuine question as half watched it on train this morning. The Red Robin said:

What i saw in programme was him asking for sex etc and saying he'd help them career wise if so and whilst creepy as fuck (and exploitative given power dynamic) it wasn't alleged he "forced it" in the panorama...or was it?
As i say, was only half watching so genuinely asking.0 -
It was suggested he tried to force it.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:

It’s in a lot of the BBC News reporting around this directly from the victims.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:

It’s worth listening to this. Times were like this 40 years ago and must be seen in this context.ShootersHillGuru said:Jordan speaks a lot of sense in this. From about 6:25

Sullivan has been banned from any contact with the West Ham women’s team and under age teams for the last three years. It has emerged today.3

Brady's wiki page is an interesting read. She has had a number of interesting jobs with some interesting 'gentlemen'0

Bloke is a wrong ‘un. Simple as. And that’s being kind.2

Karren Brady was a different type of woman to all those we saw in Panorama. Secure family background, utterly ruthless about building a career, a rat up a drain type salesperson. That was the picture painted to me by people on the media side of the ad agency biz I worked in when she got the Birmingham gig. They are the source of the snooker table thing, which of course may just be legend, but it refers to when she first met him aged 19 while flogging ad space at LBC. In Panorama it's suggested that exercising power was what motivated Sullivan to seek such joyless sexual encounters with those young victims. Brady was different gravy, you could say she turned the tables on him😉JohnBoyUK said:

But that begs the question for me, why only now, dear Baroness? Because of course you knew. You also knew how to handle it and turn it to your advantage.3 -

And hobnobbing with Birmingham players under her charge! I think they are still married.Carter said:
Thats astonishing levels of blissful ignorance on her part. I've said for years to anyone who will listen to me that she has gotten where she has by tagging onto some incredibly unsavoury peopleWeegie Addick said:Amazing how Baroness Brady is keeping her name out of all this. Until now. I wonder if this is the reason why she resigned recently??.PragueAddick said:

From the BBC website article it sounds like it was the historical allegations that led to the safeguarding team banning him from contact with the women and the kids. Safeguarding issues are generally kept pretty quiet, but you have to tell senior people because you have to make sure they don't organise events that break the safeguarding arrangements. So Brady may not have known the details but there's no way she didn't know there was an issue.Arsenetatters said:

Exactly. Remember a documentary about the Sport with him as editor. I worked for a double glazing company at the time. I was thinking that I didn't quite fit into the scene.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:guinnessaddick said:The BBC presenter Tony Livesey is to “step back” from his radio show after allegations were raised about his previous career as the editor-in-chief of David Sullivan’s Sport Newspapers.
Yeah his prior high profile career and autobiography would never have been discovered or known by the BBC had Panorama not made this.
Something more to it all than what was shown last night surely as his implication in the programme was literally in his autobiography/ book back in 1998.0 -
Yeah, that's one way to phrase it...Carter said:
