I can't access it through my log in page, but when I clicked on your link TK, the application page came up.
It seems obvious that they are keeping the free option available but going to great lengths to make it more difficult for fee applicants to sign up - ie, they want paid subscribers.
[cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite] they want paid subscribers.
Which may be the flaw in the business plan. OK they can raise some income from advertising and sales of downloads but it will be subscription that brings the real money in.
But in a world where people more and more expect everything on the internet to be free - and that is extending to free print newspapers - how many are going to pay if they don't have to?
I guess their business plan is based around people who think that £9.99 per month for a huge library of music at their fingertips....... is better value than paying £0.99 a track through iTunes.
And no doubt, the free version is basically a marketing idea to get the product known initially, and hoping many will upgrade for the paid for benefits and no moronic advertising jingles.
Once Spotify is considered established, with mostly paying Premium subscribers, they will withdraw the free option completely?
I'm a Spitify free user but when I logged in just now, they wouldn't allow me to send a free invitation.
This is from their help page: How do I get Spotify?
You are welcome to buy Spotify Premium to start using it right away. Alternatively, if you know a Premium user who has remaining invitations, they can invite you to Spotify Free, a lighter version of Spotify with less features and commercial breaks. Can you give me an invite?
Sorry, no If you don’t know anyone who can invite you, you can buy Spotify Premium to get started.
It seems only Premium members (9.99 per month) can invite at the moment or you have to subscribe to the paid for Premium service.
thanks oggy for trying. south london sent me a link so i'm in now.
anyone that has this for the iphone will currently be experiencing problems syncing music across . This lead me to delete the app then re-load it to sort out only to find it wasn't anything to do with my phone and has now left me with no music for the day trip to Wycombe
