Who remembers 'jumping' Jacks fireworks. Must of been the most dangerous firework you could get. Basically you light it and it jumped around the garden. I was so scared I used to hide in the garage.
As a kid, Halloween was nothing more than my mum telling me that I had to be in bed and asleep early! American based rip-off.
Christmas on the other hand is a very special time and I love it as much now as I did as a child. It is comfortably my favourite time of the year, although I deliberately try to avoid as much commercialism as I can until the beginning of December.
Halloween is bobbing apples, witches, ghosts and basically all souls eve or dia de los muertos. Don’t mind that.
dressing up as iron man or whatever is not to my mind Halloween.
Christmas is over commercialised but still have a soft spot for it. It is after all really the winter solstice celebration in slightly the wrong day. Santa can do one though.
Christmas is the difficult one for me, my mum (90) lives a long way from us, I can hear my wife now blaming covid for not wanting her to stay, what's that song, 'see trouble ahead '.
I like Christmas, but I think it should start in December. My wife watched a Christmas movie on channel 5 today! It is also far better when you are a kid or have kids.
Having a lovely evening at my mums for a Halloween and fireworks party.
My daughter’s friend was supposed to be coming over but obviously couldn’t so her parents came over with her and we took them out trick or treating (we gave them a sweet every time they saw a pumpkin).
A few fireworks, hot dogs, jacket spuds and beans. Lovely.
