You spoke to Chris Powell twice?cfgs said:I had the honour of being in the boardroom, as part of the VIP season ticket packet, on the wonderful day in May that saw us pick up the trophy under CP. I plucked up the courage to speak to many of the great and the good that day, well CP, Varney, Slater, Karl Howman and CP. Paul was there but I never got to talk to him, funny how things turn out.

I think Scott Parker may of been 20 and just back from Norwich on loan when he turned into our best midfielders over the following 2 years.Taxi_Lad said:

Gomez, Shelvey, Walsh and Elliott has been the 4 best teenagers we have had over the last 40 years. All 4 of them left while still in their teens. Let's hope their is mileage in this rumour about Paul Elliott. Weren't him and Paul Walsh sold to Luton at virtually the same time?0 -
First appointment as chairman is Richard Rufus as his head of finance.14

Heard very mixed things about him as a person, at both extremes of the spectrum. Wasn't jumping for joy when I heard this news to be honest.1

Pail Elliott always makes me laugh. Uses very long complicated words , normally out of context. However, if he’s involved it suggests Varney might be as well.1

My mate and his missus rented his place in Blackheath a while back.
Not sure if I can shoehorn any kind of insight into his possible appointment from that info though.
Didn’t he threaten Rufus using the ‘N’ word after losing money in his ‘investment’ scheme. ?0 -
Thought AB meant that PV is not involved.masicat said:

A nice guy with Charlton in his blood - that's obviously a big plus. The Rufus debacle is a question mark over his business acumen and gullibility however.
At the very least we'll know he'll be doing his utmost for the benefit of the club.3 -

Debacle, acumen and gullibility in one sentence. Do you live in Keston Park?Vincenzo said:A nice guy with Charlton in his blood - that's obviously a big plus. The Rufus debacle is a question mark over his business acumen and gullibility however.

Very hard to judge our teenagers these days since we tend to sell them after about 25 games.
Lookman, for example, scored some fantastic goals and could - in the right setting - have taken us all the way to the PL in the same way Saha and Bolasie did for Palace.

Getting back on Topic (sorry guys) ... If Paul Elliott is Chairman, will we have a CEO?0

I assume so._MrDick said:Getting back on Topic (sorry guys) ... If Paul Elliott is Chairman, will we have a CEO?
I wonder if they have already earmarked someone for the role given they've already got a chairman and manager lined up, it seems.

I know Paul - very nice and trustworthy guy - Rufus really stitched Paul and many others up with his fraud - Paul had to resign from his FA role because of the words he used when he challenged Rufus over what Rufus had done - I don't know the details, but I am sure it was shed loads of cash that Paul lost - Paul was ashamed of his choice of words, but emotions were naturally running very high (as you would expect)
Paul would make an excellent Chairman - personable and friendly + he is Charlton through and through
He is also highly respected the in the game
I introduced him to a friend of mine who is Scottish and supports Celtic - it was like I had introduced my mate to a god - Paul was more than happy to spend an hour talking to my mate about his time at Celtic and missed two of his trains home to do so
