Getting back on Topic (sorry guys) ... If Paul Elliott is Chairman, will we have a CEO?

Christ hope its not a Woman this time!!

We all clearly know that men are much better at this sort of thing

Blimey mate, hope you've got your tin helmet and bullet-proof jacket ready!

Dont worry I've got my whoosh at the ready for anyone snaps

(Was tongue in cheek after Roland's comments saying we hated Katie as she was female)
  • I know Paul - very nice and trustworthy guy - Rufus really stitched Paul and many others up with his fraud - Paul had to resign from his FA role because of the words he used when he challenged Rufus over what Rufus had done - I don't know the details, but I am sure it was shed loads of cash that Paul lost - Paul was ashamed of his choice of words, but emotions were naturally running very high (as you would expect)

Paul would make an excellent Chairman - personable and friendly + he is Charlton through and through

He is also highly respected the in the game

I introduced him to a friend of mine who is Scottish and supports Celtic - it was like I had introduced my mate to a god - Paul was more than happy to spend an hour talking to my mate about his time at Celtic and missed two of his trains home to do so

    Top man

If his name isn't Richard Murray I'll take him. Paul Elliott seems a nice, approachable bloke and is at The Valley most weeks and has been for years. He clearly cares.
  • Is Paul still involved with the Community Trust.

Having solid links between the boards of CAFC and CACT would be a good thing.

And Paul lives in Bromley so easy to get him along to a meeting ; - )

Yeah, guessed that, but I still wouldn't stick my head too far above the parapet for a while!

He was speaking on ITV London news the other night with regard footballers racial abuse.

    I'm certain he is.

Heat of the moment. Lots of people say silly regretable things in outbursts of anger etc. Don't make it right but it happens and doesn't make the perpetrator a bad un.

  • well it's just been dragged up on here !
  • Of course the media will pick up on it... Its easy ammo to fill part of their papers

Sadly, I fear you are right. Just hope Paul (or his advisors) have a prepared statement to release (if of course his appointment is confirmed.)

  • More worried that he got taken in by Rufus in the first place. The returns he was promising were ludicrous, so I'm told.

A Charlton man in charge, absolute dream after the past few years

Agree with that. I hope that the background money have confidence and a plan that allows Elliot to deliver.

Now I don’t really have any issue with Kewell coming in if that’s the plan but I do worry that if the reason is purely because he’s an Aussie it doesn’t really stack up with a plan to get the best available. Certainly he looks as if he has potential but he’s lacking in experience and is a punt.

Agree. If they are serious and have some money behind them why take a punt on an inexperienced manager? They should be looking to appoint a manager and his entire coaching team, if he has one, who has won promotion with at least two different clubs, in this country or in Europe, in the last 6 or 7 years.

CP had managed one game for Leicester (in temporary charge) before being appointed Charlton manager...

Compared to that, Kewell's experience is vast!

    A tad harsh SHG
  • Understands football, the club, and the area. No guarantees with anything life, but his resume ticks a lot of boxes for what you would like to see in a Chairman. I'd be initially optimistic about his appointment, but, as with everything to potentially come with this takeover, the proof of the pudding would be in the eating.

Called my cat Rufus before his crimes broke! Should have been Elliott!
  • Sorry have I missed something? I thought someone ITK said Elliott was fronting the Arabs bid?

The ultimate source on Elliott becoming chairman is Paul himself. Make of that what you will. He’s been linked with more than one group.
  • But he played for Woodhill

Locksbottom please - he has standards... ;-)

I called my cat Roland - something to kick when I get home after a hard day.

(Announcement: no animals were hurt in the making of this feeble joke).
I assume you've seen your cat Roland once in the last 4 years
He hears my car pull into the drive and he disappears!!
