I know Paul - very nice and trustworthy guy - Rufus really stitched Paul and many others up with his fraud - Paul had to resign from his FA role because of the words he used when he challenged Rufus over what Rufus had done - I don't know the details, but I am sure it was shed loads of cash that Paul lost - Paul was ashamed of his choice of words, but emotions were naturally running very high (as you would expect)
Paul would make an excellent Chairman - personable and friendly + he is Charlton through and through
He is also highly respected the in the game
I introduced him to a friend of mine who is Scottish and supports Celtic - it was like I had introduced my mate to a god - Paul was more than happy to spend an hour talking to my mate about his time at Celtic and missed two of his trains home to do so
Top man
I always saw the text between Elliot and rufus as one man’s complete hurt and anger about being completely fucked over by a guy you thought was one of your best mates. I think in that sense all bets are off. He admitted he was wrong to use the word and resigned, in my opinion that’s enough punishment from the court of public opinion.
He clearly loves the club and has done for many years, I’d definitely be happy with him being chairman.

If his name isn't Richard Murray I'll take him. Paul Elliott seems a nice, approachable bloke and is at The Valley most weeks and has been for years. He clearly cares.
Heat of the moment. Lots of people say silly regretable things in outbursts of anger etc. Don't make it right but it happens and doesn't make the perpetrator a bad un.

Also really hope all that bollocks doesn't get dragged up again by the gutter press and twitter freaks if he does come on board.
A Charlton man in charge, absolute dream after the past few years
Agree with that. I hope that the background money have confidence and a plan that allows Elliot to deliver.
Now I don’t really have any issue with Kewell coming in if that’s the plan but I do worry that if the reason is purely because he’s an Aussie it doesn’t really stack up with a plan to get the best available. Certainly he looks as if he has potential but he’s lacking in experience and is a punt.

Agree. If they are serious and have some money behind them why take a punt on an inexperienced manager? They should be looking to appoint a manager and his entire coaching team, if he has one, who has won promotion with at least two different clubs, in this country or in Europe, in the last 6 or 7 years.
Having solid links between the boards of CAFC and CACT would be a good thing.
And Paul lives in Bromley so easy to get him along to a meeting ; - )
He is.
He did a speech at an event last year. Words to the effect of “Whilst Charlton- on the pitch - are not currently able to compete with the likes of Arsenal and Man united the off the pitch stuff CACT does most certainly is.”

CP had managed one game for Leicester (in temporary charge) before being appointed Charlton manager...

Understands football, the club, and the area. No guarantees with anything life, but his resume ticks a lot of boxes for what you would like to see in a Chairman. I'd be initially optimistic about his appointment, but, as with everything to potentially come with this takeover, the proof of the pudding would be in the eating.

We all clearly know that men are much better at this sort of thing
(Was tongue in cheek after Roland's comments saying we hated Katie as she was female)

He’s immensely proud to be involved
Compared to that, Kewell's experience is vast!
(Announcement: no animals were hurt in the making of this feeble joke).
