Was there with Don last night & thought the Yorkies would knock off the runs after their decent start to the innings....
But it unfolded unto a great last quarter of the match with some lovely catches ( esp by young Sam Billings - lads around us were regaling him with the "Oh Nicky Bailey" song which he thought was hilarious! Like our boys in red on Tues night, this was truly a victory for the team with everyone ( inc Mr Nash who I've been critical of in the past) playing an important part.
Wish I could be there for the decider v Sussex on Monday but family stuff makes it look unlikely.
if your going to prepare a slow pitch I think you have to bat second as you get to see what you need. The Sussex team have seen how it plays which makes it a lot easier.
Sussex blasted their way to a home semi-final in the Clydesdale Bank 40 with a nine-wicket win over Kent, who narrowly miss out on the knockout stages.
Luke Wright crashed an unbeaten 101 and Matt Prior weighed in with 78 not out as the Sharks chased down a target of 211 with 10 overs to spare.
The result means contrasting fortunes for the two counties - Sussex will face Hampshire at Hove on Saturday for a place in the final, while the loss for Kent, coupled with Warwickshire beating Yorkshire, means Rob Key's side finish third in Group C.
Was there today. I assumed 200-220 was par given previous scores at the St Lawrence in the Pro40 and the slowness of the pitch (Sussex left our Panesar), but it really didnt look like anywhere near enough when Sussex batted. Result really wasn't in doubt after the first powerplay
Was also there, Sussex dominated throughout - great day out though. My little boy will remember this for a longtime - not because of the cricket - but the fact he got to spend about 6 solid hours in the bouncy castle just behind where we were sitting!!!!
