I can see the batsmen being given order to score as quickly as possible after tea (to be fair, the pair in now have already started scoring quickly), get up over 400 as quick as possible to allow the bowlers a good go at them tonight.
Sam Northeast has come on a bundle this season (now averaging just under 60 in the CC) and starting to look the sort of batsman that everyone hoped he would become. Adams leaving him out at the start of the season may just have been the "incentive" he needed.
Tredders has currently bowled 29 overs conceding just31 runs.
With Derby 146/7 he might not get another bowl, so he it's unlikely that he'll get to join one of cricket's more obscure lists - of bowlers who have bowled 40 overs in an innings and conceded fewer than 40 runs.
From memory the last to achieve this was Chris Old.
Derbyshire have a stubborn tail but this is a must win match for us if we are to have any hope of promotion.
Even then we are dependent on what Yorkshire do in their next match whilst needing to win ours.
I just wish someone could prise out these last 3 wickets. It might even be worth putting someone like Northeast or Key for an over in the hope that they are tempted to have a swish and hole out. Runs are no longer relevant.

Take a look at Lance Gibbs figures in the India second Inns:

Tredders has just come back on but I don't think there are enough overs left for him to bowl 40 in the innings unless we really whizz through them which is unlikely on a hot sultry afternoon.

Get the lead past 400 and then up and at them I reckon...
Tredders already introduced into the attack.
C'mon SUPERKENT !

Coles strikes with his second ball. Tredders strangling them at the other end 13-7-14-0.

Anyway Tredders back into the attack and he has conceded a run - 30 overs and 32 runs.
Stevens, with figures of 3-18 from 13.2 overs!
