    Bloody cheek!

Nothing on accounts or Football league loan. KP did say that Bailey gets stuck in and wins battles.

Another version doing the rounds via email.

    Gold/Sullivan
They are interested, however West Ham is their No.1 target/love. They have made 2 bids for WHU, both of which lapse on Friday if not accepted. Contrary to reports, only David Gold sat with Peter at the Southend game....Karen Brady was in Birmingham!

    Takeover
Even if Gold/Sullivan bid doesn't emerge, there are 2 or 3 interested parties. It is believed that they would involve a complete takeover, rather than invest with the current board. All potential bidders would seek to return the club to the Premiership ASAP.

    Transfer Window
Parky will only be able to bring players in, if players move out. There are still 3 or 4 players on Prem money. It is expected that only silly money bids will be accepted.

    Finances
We will be ok till the end of the season. The worst case scenario is if we fail to get promoted. There will be at least a dozen players out of contract. We currently have a £5m annual wage bill...League One TV money is circa £350k! In the Championship it's a minimum of £3m and in The Prem the minimum TV money is circa £30m!! Watford & palarse are in big trouble....Varney had heard that they would have trouble paying salaries again this month.

    Curbs
His departure was amicable, there was no fallout with Richard Murray. Curbs had a year to go on his contract, he & the Board felt the fans frustrations with the style of football. He didn't want to extend his contract as he wanted a break. When asked why Curbs was involved in selecting or grooming his successor, they both felt it wouldn't have worked, but did state that the Board did consider it.

    Billy Davies
To this day, Varney believes he was the right man for the job when they interviewed him to succeed Curbs. He verbally accepted the position and returned North. Then in Varney's words, he doesn't know what happened over the next two days which saw Dowie appointed Manager.

    Dowie
Varney had been with lawyers for 7 hours yesterday discussing this case which starts Friday. It is felt that it will be settled out of court to prevent any further legal fees. However, Varney was keen to see it go to court so the truth would come out. He was not sacked for football reasons, ie results on the pitch. Varney said look at the Board's track record, they were not the type of people to abandon a new Manager after 13 games.

    Les Reed
A lovely man and sacking him was such a hard thing to do. The fuss about him being given a new contract was nonsense. His contract was re-written as his job title & duties had changed, however a clause was inserted that if the job didn't suit and results/performances didn't improve before Xmas he would also leave. They couldn't publically tell people this as it would seem he had no backing, which he did.

    Pards
Varney believes he will go on to be a good Manager, perhaps we will be the only blip on his CV?? Most fans will agree that he was the right appointment at that moment in time. Despite what Pards has said in the media, the Board backed him very very well. They invested £11.5m in wages/transfer fees on 3 players alone, which he insisted would fire us from the Championship back to the Prem. Those 3 players were Andy Gray, Luke Varney & Izale McLeod.

    Scott Parker
Subject was discussed again, but nothing new materialised. Scotty left for money and security for life for his family. He always gave 100% on the pitch and he continued to do that for Chelsea, Newcastle & West Ham. Keith believed that he should have stayed with us for another two years for his career's sake, but the pound signs had turned his head. The Board initially rejected all offers (started at £5m) before conceding the player wanted to go and accepting a deal that eventually rose to £11.75m. We asked the Chelsea Board to wait until the summer, however Ranieri wanted him immediately.....only to rarely play him!

    Andy Reid
Once Sunderland confirmed their interest, he wanted to leave. We made a profit, so the Board had to accept. Pards tried to talk him out of it, but he wanted to link up with Roy Keane and play in the Prem again. The finger was pointed at Pards for not having a replacement lined up, as the money was available from his sale.

There were some other stories involving Keith playing golf this Summer with a boozed up Derek Hales and an insight into Herman's cut head at Birmingham a few seasons ago!

Thanks Henners, most of what I typed was from my fading memory.

Henry !!! You WERE there !

Were you disguised as Betty Hutchins ????

Thanks BDL AND Henry - Between you I think most bases have been covered.

One thing I remember was that Peter said he'd known David Gold through the Premiership years and that he was a good bloke. Couldn't understand why he gets such a bad press.
