  • I respect your opinion but I don't agree with you Chaz that England have had more luck than South Africa. Yes England earned two tight draws but thats cricket. To be honest i'm more annoyed that even when the technology worked, the umpire still failed.

[cite]Posted By: mart77[/cite]To those who don't know about the Smith decision that should have been out, it has been announced that the 3rd umpire didn't have the sound turned on (WHICH HE SHOULD HAVE) when he was reviewing the decision and the error of missing the clear noise was only realised afterwards. Absolute joke.

Don't know much about cricket but to be fair, from what I have seen, England have had more than their share of luck in this series, including by the looks of it now with the rain. Plus of course South Africa have let England borrow a few players :-)

what are you south african? regardless whether your correct, i wouldnt know as i havent watched the whole series but seems to me been 50/50

we could do with alot more rain to wipe out the remaining three days, otherwise we will have to battle hard like the previous 2 we have drew
  • The SA's have had plenty of there own luck, in the last test alone I think there was 3 cases of players getting nicks and not being given. In fact Boucher got a nick on one and was stumped but England didn't review it.
  • Sorry guys only having a laugh :-) I've never understood this passion for cricket. Same with Rugby Union. Football is enough for me!

Don't be silly Chaz, only opinions. I'm Irish but i love cricket and have done since the early 90's when Chris Lewis wasn't a drug smuggler!

well people are entitled to their own opinions and tbh im not that passionate about cricket just england in general, i agree cant see why anyone would get too worked up over it? then again if i did like football i'd be having heart attacks already at such a young age with all the stress

    3rd umpire is Darryl Harper

    says it all really

On the radio this morning they said the 3rd umpire didn't have the Sky pictures - just the local ones from SA and that was the problem. If itturns out that he just hadn't switched the sound on then he should never work again.

3rd umpire only has to turn a TV on and he sits and waits to be told "you're needed". If he can't manage that then he is a wrong-un
  • Johnny as you were spot on with first innings.. how many do you think SA will get and will this turn into a draw? (need to know wether it is worth putting a bet on it it mate)

lol i wouldnt bet on it but i think they will get 389, then we will need 209- which we will get but only about 70-80 over so they will cruise to victory with 10 wickets in tact

but im not a betting man ;-)

South African TV don't have the hot-spot technology either which would make decisions like listening for a nick or relying on eyesight redundant. They were offered it by Sky, but decided that it was too expensive.

  • Apparently there are only 4 "HotSpot" machines in the world, and cost £1m each.
    SACricket/SABroadcasters can't afford 1.

What is the point of looking on this thread then if you only out to wind people up!! Not what this forum is bout!!

So they can afford to stage world cups in every sport. but not £1m for a bit of TV equipment to improve the enjoyment of one of those sports when it's played in their country? Odd.
  • England have made an official complaint to the ICC about the Smith fiasco.
  • SA 235-4 Amla & Kallis out in the first 15 mins this morning both caught off Broad & Sidebottom.
  • 235-5 Duminy c Collingwood at slip b Swann 7 (Swann's 1st ball of the day)
  • Another Daryl Harper cock-up. de Villiers rightly given out, Harper incorrectly overturns the decision on review.
  • 303-5.
Swann should have gone for areview and overuled Prior:
The ball was hitting Leg stump.
  • Getting silly now:
Thick inside edge to Prior, but we've no reviews left.
    Thank You Darryl Poxy Harper..........

3 days of pure hell for our boys.....nothing and I mean nothing has gone right from start to finish.

Not quite true, we did win the toss...

Though why Strauss decided to bat when the wicket would be at it's liveliest only he will know.

Didn't Smith also say in his interview that he'd have done the same (could be a wind up though!).
  • 123 - 7 wellat least we have drawn the series, Swann and Colly batting - not sure they can stay there for a day and a half. KP adds to his impressive series performsnce with a solid dozen.

I have to say I cannot remember a more depressing 4 days for an England fan...complete and utter shambles from start to finish.
It often goes that you have the odd bad session here and there...or day even come to that...but for all four days and every session it's very very unusual.
In fact, so poor has it been that I've not even watched it....and that's saying something.
Strauss deciding to bat and then being out first ball of the match and the Smith decision were just two blows which meant we were never gonna get as much as a sniff and of course we didn't!
