  • Heard really good things about Looper, thinking about going to see it, anyone else seen it?
  • Yeah, best film I've seen this year by a mile. Would gladly go back to see it for a 2nd time.
  • Really enjoyed Looper. Its one of those films where I would probably need to see it again. Not a difficult plot to understand but I was left asking questions at the end. And wasn't a big fan of Emily Blunt going on her performance in The Adjustment Bureau but she was really good in this.
  • Went to see Argo yesterday. True story from the Iran hostage crisis. Very good. Probably a shoo in for an Oscar.

if you like totally unbelievable US good guy against Eastern European baddies where 1 man defeats a minature army go see Taken 2 (Liam Neeson).
  • Saw Looper last weekend. Saw it had got 5* reviews in most of the papers so went in with an open mind. Interesting storyline but I thought the ending was far too predictable and came out of the cinema very underwhelmed.

Looking forward to seeing Skyfall in a couple of weeks.

    Quality.

  • Watched Animal Kingdom last night. Wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Loosely based on the Walsh Street killings in Australia and I was a little bit underwhelmed. Some good characters and acting but the script didn't come across that well.

This looks pretty mad, Brick Top and Michelle Ryan (amongst others) what more could you want?
  • I know it's not out yet but anyone else pretty stoked about the new Bond? Casino Royale was the best for years, decades even, Quantum was a bit average but the reviews for the new one have been pretty darn good. Sam Mendes is a good director, be interesting to see his take on Bond, James Bond.

Seen 'Tell No-One'. Can't remember it too well but one of my all time favourites. Saw Looper recently which i recommend too.

And Whitechapel cinema, only £3.50 on a wednesday, very nice inside and surprisingly big too.
  • If you like foreign language films, then I recommend Rust and Bone at the London Film Festival which I saw yesterday and is an astonishing film. Up for best film at the London Film Festival and stars the beautiful Marion Cotillard of Inception, Contagion and Dark Knight Rises fame.

Blaxploitation and spaghetti westerns are my favourite genres and Tarantino is my favourite contemporary director. Think this will be incredible, love the nod to the original Django as well.
  • From films I saw a the Toronto Film Festival, I can thoroughly recommend Argo, Much Ado About Nothing and Reincarnated (Snoop Dogg doc).

Biasedly, also you should watch Stitches (Ross Noble), in cinemas next week - Horror comedy about a killer clown that comes back from the dead .....

Just saw Taken 2. Ok, you know what you're going to see, but thought it was very good as sequels go.

Not read the books but I thought the film was terrible!
  • Just been to see Beasts of the Southern Wilds - set in the Bayou outside New Orleans at the time of Katrina. Story perceived through the eyes of a six year old girl - fantastic perfomance by a nine year old "actress" tipped to be the youngest ever Oscar nominee. A bit of a different film - got great reviews at various festivals. Not for those of you looking for action-packed...

I really liked it - quirky, charming, great cast, his best since Rushmore and the two kids were brilliant. The Life Aquatic however sucked.
