Enjoyable plot and good acting 7/10

Nowadays? More like ever mate, he would have starred in the Woodentops had he been born sooner :)

Youre right but i have a soft spot for Red Rock West
  • Won't be for everybody but really looking forward to seeing 22 Jump Street
  • The Machine

A film that starts extremely slowly and gets slightly better as it goes along but it's totally ruined by awful backing music that sounds like a room of monkeys smashing up a synthesizer. 90 minutes of my life i won't get back.

  • X-Men days of future past

Not being a big Marvel fan , a film like this has to be extraordinary for me to really like it and this is not that film. Apart from one wonderful scene when time is slowed down this is exactly what you would expect from an X-Men film this time with large , Transformer type robots thrown in . Fans , i'm sure , will love it .

It looks so funny. But be careful, this thread is not for conversation!
  • Full English Breakfast

This sort rubbish gives straight to DVD films a bad name. Dave Courtney should stick to being a proper gangster not a screen one. Terrible .

  • Last night was X-Men, Days of Future Past. Brilliantly portrayed storyline which was easy and simple to follow. The cast were excellent and Jackman, Fassbender, McAvoy and Lawrence appearing in the most scene stealing roles were faultless. An exciting and action packed film with lots of twists and turns along the way.....I really enjoyed it despite coming down with food poisoning about half way through, making it an uncomfortable last hour. 8/10

I'm with you on this one. really enjoyable. Better plot than the wolverine movie! As usual with Marvel films, wait until the end of the credits for a teaser from the next movie in the series. also 8/10

  • It is my own film, but it's absolutely amazing....

Road (narrated by Liam Neeson) it tells the compelling, yet devastatingly scary story about the Dunlop Road Racing family, encompassing Uncle Joey, Father Robert and current Road racing champions - brothers Michael and William Dunlop.

Film followed by live Q&A Nationwide on 11 June. Described by Total Film as "does for Road Racing what Senna did for Formula One"

Supaclive. Love road racing. The Dunlop's are legend's, end of.

Hand on heart, is it as good as Closer To The Edge?

  • Just been to see X-Men Days of Future Past. It's not the story from the comics (issues 141 and 142), although it is obviously inspired by it, and that's fine. Some really good performances, a well written script, a coherent story (Jane Goodman and Matthew Vaughn strike again). There's a whole bunch of characters from the comics that we see for the first time, so there's a geekgasm guaranteed. All-in-all, I'm very happy with it. I can now pretend X-Men Last Stand never happened.

Closer To The Edge was much more cinematic in that it was filmed specifically to highlight the absurdness of Road Racing and captured in 3D too.

Road is the better film - the human story, the tragedy, the sheer emotion this film brings is ridiculous. I'm not a massive Road Racing fan and I was absorbed for the full 97 minutes. Genuine 4* movie, from everybody that has watched it.

The guys that Road Race are genuinely brave (or stupid!) people!
  • Brilliant, look forward to watching it SC. I loved Senna as well, so if it's half as good as that hopefully you'll have a winner on your hands fella.

One of my colleagues went along to the screening the other week, said he loved it (he's a biker, which helps).

A few that i watched on tele this week. Not the most recent (apologies if already reviewed) but will be coming out on Sky soon I imagine and fairly recent releases on DVD.

Adventurer - Curse of Midas Box

An enjoyable family film. Has been slated in reviews but, for me, the only things that let it down were the disjointed production and the lack of plot connectors at times.

Great camerawork and good turns from Michael Sheen and Lena Hadley.

Solid 7/10 and you will enjoy it if you like a fantasy film for all the family.

    Drinking Buddies

Indie film from highly rated director Joe Swanberg.

I enjoy character driven low budget films usually. I found this an absolute nonsense of a film. I guess it was due to the lack of empathy I found with the story. I dont think it helps if you are not American and couldnt find any affinity with the story. One you have to suck and see in terms of personal taste.

Well received generally but I found it irritating.

    A Hijacking

Now this is how to blow big budget competitors out of the window. So much better than Captain Phillips

From the director of the TV series Borgen, I found it gripping, beautifully shot and a pretty accurate representation of the modern day piracy issue. Norway is turning out some great stuff at the moment.

    Huge 8.5/10

A Hijacking was released in cinema last year - it's available on DVD now.

  • @ShootersHillGuru‌

It will be on Sky and on DVD/netflicks etc .... it came out in the cinema last year. If you buy DVDs, its deffo one you can watch a few times.

Interestingly, film made a fair bit of spin-off money from Insurance companies who used it as an underwriting aid.
  • I have just seen this trailer and there are posters all over London advertising this.
It looks like a contention for one of the worst films ever made.
I'm not going to see it , is anyone else?
    Horrendous.

    Pretty much how Steve says.
Just under the clip there is a button that says share .
Click on that then a link will automatically highlight.
Copy and paste that link .
    That's it.

( it won't work as far as I know on the phone app)

Metro Manila, written and directed by a bloke from Brighton. 9/10.

  • Went to see the new Xmen last night. I liked First Class, and was encouraged by the imdb rating.

Thought it was quite disappointing. Same old stuff recycled with a different storyline. The apocalyptic, matrix trilogy-like tone was miserable and oppressive. Is Magneto the dullest villain ever conceived? Even the usually brilliant Michael Fassbender can't make him interesting.

Wish I went to see something else.
  • The Last Days on Mars

A film that looks great and is by no means bad but it could have been so much better. Gravity with Zombies.
