Hilarious as usual Absurdistan . If I didn't know better I would say you are one of Chirpys Alter egos.
  • SnowPiercer

An interesting concept poorly executed , which is a shame because it looks good and has a great cast. If i didn't know better i would have said this was a Terry Gilliam film but it's actually directed by south Korean , Joon-ho Bong.
I saw this in a private screening but a UK release date has yet to be determined.
It's as mad as a box of frogs.

This is on HDCartoon if anyone wants to see it.

I watched it last week and was pretty disappointed in the end.

Looks to be a case of a good cast wasted.
  • Went to see Amazing Spider-Man 2 , 7.5 out of 10.

A solid super-hero film. Still think the first number 2 with Alfred Molina is the best Spidey film.
  • Calvary

More melancholy than Melancholia. Not a foot put wrong anywhere. Highly recommended.

    X-Men: Days of Future Past

So looking forward to this. It's based on a two issue story by Chris Claremont and John Byrne that is arguably the best they did in their near four year tenure on the title.

It totally lives up to the hype. Quicksliver is a highlight. I think the end will cause some debate, but most people won't mind as the positives outweigh the negatives. I just won't be watching X1, X2 or X3 any time soon.

    He who dares

You will have try very hard to see a B movie quite as bad as this. This British crime thriller is so bad it could almost come under the banner of a comedy. The acting is amazingly bad as is the plot and i would almost go as far as to say , watch this , just for the entertainment value.

  • Saw Godzilla today - much better than I thought it would be - 9 out of 10 - for its type of film.

Just got out of an Edge Of Tomorrow screening. It's Groundhog Day meets Starship Troopers meets The Matrix. And it works. Well paced, funny when it needs to be, likewise incredibly tense at times and fantastic to look at. It's another four star Cruise movie. He's so consistent it's quite something to behold.

    The Patrol

My first thoughts about this film were , because of the rhetoric and jargon , that it's a war film about the British army , for the British army but thinking about it more deeply this is really an anti war film and a really good one at that.
This is well acted and makes you think about how some of our boys were dumped into a pointless war without the equipment and intelligence. It was never really our fight.

  • Blue Ruin

Blue Ruin is an intelligent , provocative , revenge thriller that despite being played out at a pedestrian pace throughout has you gripped from the first minute to the last . Fantastic performance from Macon Blair. Recommended.

Saw this last night. Left me a bit cold, give it no more than 6. I think I may have been expecting too much.

  • Local cinema did a one-off 20th anniversary re-showing of Pulp Fiction last night, I am too young to have caught it on the big screen first time around but it holds up really well. Tarantino is definitely a bit marmite but I am in the 'love it' camp and PF is still very good - one of the best I've seen.
  • Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

I can't remember a time i was so at bored by watching an action movie as i was watching this. This film feels like it should have been made in the 1980's . Packed full of tired cliches and naff accents this is just dull , dull , dull . I hope they don't bother with another Jack Ryan film if it's as tedious as this.

This week it was Godzilla. The film worked very well despite some very dodgy and wooden acting. I assume that most of the budget was eaten up by the animation/special effects which were very good......defintley a film where the Monsters actually saved the day (and the film). 6/10...oh by the way I saw it in 3D....wasnt really much point as there wasnt anything to warrant it.
  • Godzilla
An intelligent monster movie with something to say about the modern world and lots of property damage. One I'll happily watch again, like Cloverfield.

    An Inspector Calls
Not a new film but caught it yesterday afternoon on the box and it reminded me what a fine actor Alistair Sims was. It's a good film with the added bonus of being a scathing commentary on the British class system, which appeals to the leftie in me.
  • Joe

A good Nicholas cage film is a rare thing nowadays so when one comes along it's worth shouting about. I was lucky to see Joe last Monday in a preview screening and i loved it.
Sure it's grim in places but the acting on show is outstanding and story is simple yet i was fascinated by it.
Well worth catching when released in the UK in July.

Youre right but i have a soft spot for Red Rock West
  • Won't be for everybody but really looking forward to seeing 22 Jump Street

  • The Machine

A film that starts extremely slowly and gets slightly better as it goes along but it's totally ruined by awful backing music that sounds like a room of monkeys smashing up a synthesizer. 90 minutes of my life i won't get back.

  • X-Men days of future past

Not being a big Marvel fan , a film like this has to be extraordinary for me to really like it and this is not that film. Apart from one wonderful scene when time is slowed down this is exactly what you would expect from an X-Men film this time with large , Transformer type robots thrown in . Fans , i'm sure , will love it .

It looks so funny. But be careful, this thread is not for conversation!
  • Full English Breakfast

This sort rubbish gives straight to DVD films a bad name. Dave Courtney should stick to being a proper gangster not a screen one. Terrible .

  • Last night was X-Men, Days of Future Past. Brilliantly portrayed storyline which was easy and simple to follow. The cast were excellent and Jackman, Fassbender, McAvoy and Lawrence appearing in the most scene stealing roles were faultless. An exciting and action packed film with lots of twists and turns along the way.....I really enjoyed it despite coming down with food poisoning about half way through, making it an uncomfortable last hour. 8/10

I'm with you on this one. really enjoyable. Better plot than the wolverine movie! As usual with Marvel films, wait until the end of the credits for a teaser from the next movie in the series. also 8/10

  • It is my own film, but it's absolutely amazing....

Road (narrated by Liam Neeson) it tells the compelling, yet devastatingly scary story about the Dunlop Road Racing family, encompassing Uncle Joey, Father Robert and current Road racing champions - brothers Michael and William Dunlop.

Film followed by live Q&A Nationwide on 11 June. Described by Total Film as "does for Road Racing what Senna did for Formula One"

If you don't cry, you're not a man...
