    I'll tell you what, between 1991/2 and 2008/9, Anderton played 499 games, scoring 68 goals...thats not a bad career for a sicknote really.

    He didnt retire until December 2008, scored an absolutely cracking volley in injury time for Bournemouth...fairytale ending to his career. Used to love watching shaggy play down the right for Spurs. Great player when fully fit.

    Yes, but he had a couple of shocking years at Spurs when he hardly played all season and then was fully fit for Euro '96 and World Cup in '98!!!

    In fact, just looking at his stats, between 95-96 and 97-98 Anderton played only 43 games in those full three seasons, that's really where his "Sicknote" reputation came from!

    Still, after those couple of bad years he was fit for much more of the time.
