  • I have no idea who I will vote for, besides which I live in Bexley and Conway has been a disgrace, and the Tories will get in here regardless.

Some people might say that he was just the first to be found out, but having been found out what did the local party do.! take away the whip!

He still collects his salary and gets a nice leaving package!. Him and his whole family, dubious son's, and employed wife who never even lived in the area before he came here!

On the other hand the labour lot have hardly been the party of the people have they. There denial up till last night of the debt was up till last night ridiculous, now they are going to be harder than Thatcher!. we will see........

All I know is that my family will not be voting Labour, far from it!. And from a background that is working class, and left wing, trade unionists I am sure my forefathers must be turning in there graves!

But then the labour party of years ago was killed off by the public school boy Blair, to be the best Tory primeminister they never had!. We seem to have the main political parties arguing over the middle ground, with little difference in policies in reality!

Never felt so 'bewildered' as a voter really!

Bring back rotten boroughs is what I say at least you could sell your vote........ and Bexley is pretty rotten come to think of it anyway!
  • Someone has decided that politics and different opinions is far too controversial for this board and sunk the thread.

    Free speech indeed.

SadieJane is to blame as she cast the first stone; check her first post on Page 3.

Labour have destroyed what little pride we had as a nation - I would vote for anyone but them right now.
  • Sinking does not limit your free speech.

You can carry on until your heart's content. Just don't want it dominating the top of the board.

We all know the way it was going...

It does not take long for people to stomp and shout does it?

Good, well reasoned debate in the most part.
  • Totally agree RMg

[cite]Posted By: Chunes[/cite]Maybe at some point. Don't remember him being their nominee for mayor though. In fact I remember them being none too keen on the idea. Seeing as you're talking about him in the capacity of him being mayor...

And I have literally no idea why you're talking about socialists at me.
Ken was the Labour Party candidate for London Mayor in the June 2004 election.

I think there were only 3 years or so that he was independent and the rest of his career he was labour.
  • Thought this had gone pretty well to be honest, should not have been sunk
  • I've really enjoyed reading both sides of the argument, I think most contributor's can be proud of the way they've put their views across.

what was wrong with it? I merely stated what was wrong with the BNP, everyone knows that they took over from NF it's no secret, other people on here were slating the conservatives and labour why am I to blame for the sinking for slating the BNP?

  • Why has it been sunk if i get a valid reason for the sinking fair enough but i just wanted to here others views and opinions but is that not allowed then?

It's allowed but it's not allowed to be at the top.

    I don't understand it either.
  • I think it was this statement SJ:

"wake up and smell the scum BNP supporters! "

I think it took the debate away from the table and into the toilet.
  • Shame it has been sunk but no great surprise unfortunately.

It's allowed but it's not allowed to be at the top.

Could we somehow keep it in 5th place for a while?

I'm not going to apologise for calling racists 'scum' but I'm sorry if I caused any offence. Also I feel that the thread lost its way before that, didn't someone else say that if anyone even thinks about voting labour they deserve to be shot? to name just one of a list of underhand comments however it is a politics discussion it is to be expected, I'm sure nobody meant to offend anyone else.

    still Tory btw :)
  • noooooooooooooooo i said "anyone who votes labour, thinks about or speaks about it should be shot their bodies burned and their ashes made into cat litter "

    soooo your point is ?

lol didn't actually point you out personally (sorry) but yeah that's the one a bit worse than calling the BNP scum, but hey gets the point across ;)
  • Nearly five years have gone since this post. I am pretty pleased with how accurate it turned out to be. But maybe I failed to second-guess the interest rates...

    Labour
We know what we will get if Labour are re-elected again. The fools that had their hands caught in the till will have disappeared and been replaced by a fresh crop of talented, hopeful, heart-on-the-sleeve committed Labour MPs, desperate to make their mark and, in the main, failing to do so. Sleaze won't stop, but it will reduce: Labour's been caught out and the country doesn't like it. The country's economy will continue to be run in a way most likely to bring about a gentle, depressingly-slow stutter out of recession. The NHS will continue to be costly and wasteful; but will, more importantly, remain in existence. Schools will be funded close to the amounts needed to keep them running properly. VAT will eventually reduce; income tax will probably remain broadly where it is: we'll get to keep most of what we earn, and get the best-possible return when we spend. The Government will spend about 42% of the money you make. Inflation and interest rates will remain low for years to come; but the pound will also not buy you many holiday Euros. Your mortgage will remain cheap for several years. The value of your house will not rise dramatically, but your next up-size won't be too big a step. Most people will keep their jobs; those that don't will be looked after.
    We will be in debt.

    Conservative
Some of us remember what we've had in the past from the Conservatives: those that do will be able to predict what we'd get with a new breed. Sleaze won't stop, it will get worse: the Conservatives will see a win as being a mandate to do whatever they like. So expect MPs' pay to increase almost as fast as their expenses. Hard-working immigrants will find it hard to stay; the ignorant will cheer. The country's economy will boom; but not before we have sunk into a second-dip of a recession which will make the last eighteen months look liek a tea party. (Conservative cuts will strangle the life out of the recovery). The NHS will cost less; but it will achieve much less. Education will cost tax-payers less; but if you can afford private education, you need not worry: there will be two tiers of education and everyone will know which tier they are destined to remain in, permanently. VAT will remain as it is or increase; income tax will reduce: we'll get to keep more of what we earn, but if we have the audacity to try to spend it on luxuries (bread, milk, clothes, nappies, heating) we will pay more for it. The Government will spend about 42% of the money you make. Inflation will remain fairly low; interest rates will increase fairly dramatically; but those with enough holidays will get to spend lots of cheap Euros. Your mortgage will become increasingly expensive, but the your house value will out-strip this. If you want to up-size, you'll have to bridge a big financial gap. Anyone in work wil constantly fear losing it; anyone out of work will be very badly hit.
    You will be in debt.

Neither party would be perfect; both have advantages and both have significant flaws. But I hope and pray that we do not fall into the hands of the Conservatives again.

I will vote Labour at the election. Anyone considering voting against them has a perfect right to do so, of course. But they should make sure they weight up the oprtions very, very carefully. Then choose anything but Conservative.
