[cite]Posted By: Curb_It[/cite]I find that quite shocking really. I've never had a problem with them before. Well the ones on my uncles farm are placid old beasts and I spent my childhood quite happily rounding them up for milking. Now you have me worried - i might be a bit more wary in future.
They are creatures of habit to a large extent and knew that someone would soon be arriving to get them for milking....may I suggest that had you walked into their field with a dog you just 'might' have come to a very different conclusion.
[cite]Posted By: nth london addick[/cite]i dont think they get aggresive i may be wrong but they are big stoopid inquisitive beasts who 99 times out of 100 just want to eat and if you are in their field they pressume you are going to feed them
thinking about it its about this time of year that the farmers split the calves from the parents and some go to the slaughterhouse, my neighbour was saying the other day that when that happens you can hear the cows wailing through the valley for a couple of days in distress..maybe this was playing on their mind
Walk up to the one at the front punch it stright between the eyes......no idea if it will help, but let me know if you try it, will save me the worry when I am out. Had a similar experience myself last Sept in the Gower, following a path through a field, the cows were on our right, and myself my son and a mate wandered down hill through the feel, I looked behind to see 20 or so cows walking towards us, I told the others might be good to pick up the pace a tad, next time i looked they were trotting downhill, at this point we quickened the pace, we were in full sprint when we cleared the gate, top be met by a laughing Welsh farmer, who told us as we were heading towards the farm buildings they thought it was milking time so they followed us, apparently his cows do that lot, especially to walkers, he carried on chuckling for a while as we got our breath back...
